Since placing my order I find myself in a rather unfamiliar situation. Don't really do envy - I tend to accept that I have what I can realistically afford and want - but in the past I have looked at other cars (M3, Audi RS models, etc) and thought that maybe one day... Mustang didn't feature as I've never been in the position to be able to justify the impracticality of a V8 powered left-hooker.

Now however, the rest are all just cars. Don't want an Aston, not interested. Only one car for me and the only way I could be disappointed is if the boat sinks...

That GT350R though... :brokenheart:

Agree with other comments though if youre trying to decide between a German bore wagon, a Japanese rice cake or American muscle then the Mustang isn't for you. Nobody should have to decide on a Mustang, there is no choice :)
German bore wagon - :lol:nearly chocked on my coffee with that one but how very true!

Nobody should have to decide on a Mustang - :headbang: Just said it all :amen:

Problem I'd have with the GT350R (other than the price tag and wrong hand drive) is the cross-plane crank, which steals some of the characteristic V8 burble :(

It's not as much of a problem in this engine, to give them credit. They've really tried to manipulate the crank position, firing order and counterweighted the shaft to keep as much of the 'proper' v8 sound as possible. It's miles away from a Ferrari v8 sound, for instance.

For me, it's a small price to play for all the awesome special bits. But honestly, I've had it with 'limited production' cars. Finding parts for the RS is the reason I'm selling it. I want something more common than that, so I don't have to pray to Jesus every time I need a wiper blade.

Reason for holding off on a decision is for practicality's sake, I need to make sure the missus can drive it - she is 5ft 2" and couldn't drive the Camaro we had in the States as the seating position was all wrong (no mustangs left btw when we got the car despite assurances).

Drop ÂŁ30k+ on a car that we both can't drive? No way.

I will be driving this as my pride and joy... she will have me replacing the rear tyres after 6 months.

Let your WIFE drive YOUR CAR?

I'm sorry, my brain just exploded.

Jokes aside, my wife's 5'1'' so I know the problem - she can't even drive a Fiat 500 without platform shoes :D On the other hand, that somehow wasn't a factor for me. As far as I'm concerned, there's only one ass that's going in that left seat :headbang:

I was in this exact same spot. I have an '03 RS, so the incentive to 'stay with the brand' was very strong. The turnaround for me came when I realized that all EU Mustangs would come with the equivalent of the performance pack, and that Ford were probably going to stuff some actual performance into this, and not just make it into a stylish cruiser car.

That, coupled with the 5 doors on the new RS and its sheer size increase over the Mk1 model I have, made me realize that if I was going big anyway, I might as well go all the way.

I haven't really regretted it since, though I'm sure I'll glance jealously at my AWD brethren as they slither about with their drift mode.
The turning point for me was the V8 engine, the 4 pot in the RS probably won't sound all that great so I wanted something with a roar to it. Also I always wanted a V8 car with RWD so I thought why not now. Well they can be jealous when we use our line-lock feature :D

Yeah before making up my mind I am also waiting for a test drive from either the Edinburgh or Glasgow dealer.

She is a bit of a petrol head - I of course will be picking up the bill! But hey, happy wife happy life right? :headbonk:

You're not wrong: [ame]

That sounds, and looks, like a regular Focus that some little barryboy has been let loose on. At least the MK2 looked & sounded like a proper rally car even it wasn't; this one is a complete fail on every level for me (I will concede it probably is an amazing drive though).

It was said in jest, but honestly it has nothing to do with my wife being a woman - it's just that some experiences I want for myself. We're taught to share ever since we're kids, share the road, share your toys, share your food. The mustang is a 'me' investment, for me.

It does sound better in the later videos, but obviously it will be no match to the Mustang. I would have been happy if they had took the mk2 body and put the mk3 underpinnings in it (apart from the 4 pot, keep the inline 5.)
