Any updates on disconnecting the recirculating tube?

Hey everyone I was in the market for a aftermarket BOV or even a adapter for the stock BOV, but I notice that just simply disconnecting the recirculating tube and putting a cap on the CAI it will make the same sound. I was just curious is there any problems that could potentially happen from removing the tube? Or any negative impact at all?

No one has had any negative impact from what I understand, you just want to make sure that you filter the tube with something so that nothing gets in there

Absolutely no issues here. No impact to anything other than the louder blow-off sound

Might as well just get an open filter CAI and then you will hear the blow off noise without even venting to atmosphere anyway

Agreed. The only potential negative impact is that the factory electronically controlled bypass valve opens under certain vacuum conditions such as partial throttle / cruising. This can allow dirt and debris into the engine if there is no filter in place on the bypass valve / charge pipe where the recirc tube connects. I also agree with EcoSwag1990 that if you want the sound, you may as well just get a CAI. The bypass valve sound is very noticeable with the JLT intake I installed on my car.

By filter the tube you mean putting a rubber chair tip over the opening on the CAI?

1 1/8 - 1 1/4 Rubber chair tips is what I heard, and you could get them at Lowes

I had it removed when I had the stock intake. Added back on when I installed my MAP CAI. Sounds even louder and better with the MAP CAI!

No, I mean a filter on the other end where the recirc tube connects. The electronic bypass valve doesn't behave like a traditional vacuum operated bypass / blow off valve, and opens under vacuum in some situations.
