Have any of you LE owners out there experience any QC issues? My Kona Blue has so many QC issues that I failed to notice (and my salesman failed to notice also), it's not even funny.

I have paint imperfections, (on one side, it looks like peeling), a gap in the chrome, rear windshield issues, the rubber weatherstrip, and so on. ugh..

Sorry to hear about your QC issues. Hopefully they all will get fixed soon.

The WW LE that showed up to the last C&C in Orlando had pretty much the same issues.

Owner was pointing them out and getting pictures sent to Ford.

Mine has a spot or two but nothing major. Overall better than my 11, but small issues are easier to see on the new ones as panel gaps are much tighter than the outgoing model.

I think all Mustangs have quite a few imperfections whether they be minor and just a few to quite a few of them. I hope you get yours resolved.

If you failed to notice them at first, they should be no biggie. I found a few later on, but no biggie. Report it to Ford and hopefully they take the feedback. I was looking at a few Benz with a price well above the Mustang and found issues with them. You can nit pick anything.

Yes, I'll be at Quaker Steak & Lube on Sunday. Local Dealer in Titusville has been in contact with Ford Engineering in Dearborn. They sent a spec sheet with all the gaps and tolerances. Even though they look bad, they are all within the plus or minus allowed, except for the driver's door and the left rear tail light. Paint popped off the seam sealer on the passenger side roof weld with two pin holes. Ford Engineering said that would be covered, but wouldn't let me paint it Black, as they would only restore it to factory condition (WW).

The Black plastic valence over the exhaust will be replaced by the selling dealer in Tampa. It had a dent which can't be repaired and will require removal and disassembly of the rear bumper. Don't know how the doors will be adjusted. Titusville said it couldn't be done, but Tampa said it could.

The rear bumpers on all cars are designed (CAD) to be narrower than the quarter panels. The trunk lids are the same on all cars and don't match the quarter panels (even the new GT350s) and are gapped wrong. Saw some older Mustangs and the Trunk Lids are built the same way, but are matched-up a little better than this generation.

The only way for the hood and bumper to align the top creases is to move the hood forward, which will also align the cowl better. The rear creases on the trunk lid and quarter panels apparently throws off the alignment of the trunk lid trailing edge and gaps with the quarter panels and trunk plastic. Rocker panel plastic is still too short to meet up with both the front and rear fenders. At least the front fender may have some adjustment. Metal on Dash does not align with dash speaker grill or speedo pod due to some type of interference. Pushing up and in seems to align things but it pushes back out when pressure is relieved.

Most visible (besides door alignment) is the Black Plastic between tail lights. This will be attempted when they pull the bumper and hopefully the left tail light (interference with excess metal in the left rear quarter panel stamping) and re-jigging the trunk lid.

Chrome/Stainless on top of the doors is too short. It is taped-on. Mine has it aligned with the front of the door on one side and the back on the other.

Was told the trunk lid can't be moved aft due to the locking mechanism. The hood is being pulled down too far by its mechanism.

It seems if you move or adjust one item you may have to adjust two or three other parts.

A perfect car will be a work of art, but I don't see too many people wanting to go through all this to achieve perfection. To do so, will deviate from a pristine build and render the car un-collectible, except for someone willing to pay a premium for perfection rather than collectibility. Because the car, in its present condition has so many problems and requires so many repairs to remove originality, I have no problem with modifying the car beyond restoration. Besides, all the more collectible to make those other low-mileage hangar queens. It's also going to be in my family, forever, so not a big deal for me. I have certain things I want done on this car for it to meet my standards and I'm not worried about it losing value. Probably won't increase in value, but will keep what it has, with inflation. It will be a one of one when done, but don't know what kind of one!

What the Designers intended - sort of

Clay model shows what should have been built, although the trunk is just so slightly down, based on the lower reflections in the Black Plastic. Notice once again, the fenders are designed wider than the bumper.

At least in this photo, the trunk lid lip is the same height as the fender around the top of the tail lights. Not so on production vehicles. Big dark gap. Very noticeable.

I reversed one side of the photo to make it more normal-looking and eliminate the left side of the car which was the convertible half.
