some '15 engines are less forgiving being modified and pushing it hard. i think its just the luck of the draw sometimes, hope you can get it fixed.

The early 2014-2015 2.3 engines from Spain had a more aggressive factory tune. This is evident in the road tests showing early 2.3 Mustang hitting 60 in 5.2 seconds vs. the later 2015-17 EB hitting 60 in 6+ seconds. While Ford never confirmed the different factory tune, a Ford engineer speculated that the early 2.3 had a more aggressive factory tune.

Therefore, the tuners had to be more aggressive when tuning the early 2.3 in order to extract more from the engine. Also, since the 2.3 was new at the time, there were some obvious learning curves that could be a contributing factor.

Over time, tuners who were blowing engines would have changed their tunes to be less likely to blow the engine. Some tuners have blown a lot more engines than others so all tunes are not equal.

Sorry for your loss. I was always so paranoid with my ecoboost with so many guys/gals on the forums talking about issues with either the engine blowing or the turbo. I would defintely go "built engine route." The block will handle a shit more power and it will give you a huge piece of mind.
Good luck

FWIW, I seriously doubt it had anything to do with the PedalMAX. Simply put, it changes throttle mapping by tricking the PCM. Let's say you're inputting 30% throttle (via the throttle pedal), so the PedalMAX tricks it into thinking you're inputting 40% throttle. It will make the car feel more responsive and jumpy to a point but shouldn't cause any issues like the BoostMAX or whatever it's called would.

I got the 2015 ecoboost too and have a blown engine with cylinder 2 and 3 last month. Just got my car back at 42k miles after they replaced the engine and the catalytic converter. Took a month to fix but I am happy I do not have to pay anything.

Upgrades:

FP intake and tune
MBRP catback exhaust
DV+ upgrade BPV

Eco boost uses a speed density ECU that reads maps installed in its memory used in conjunction with sensor readings to determine where in each map it should be to determine boost, fueling, timing etc.
Pedal max and others like it are a piggy back device that fools the ECU. If you’ve ever used a piggy back in the past, before stand alone ECU’s and quality tuning became affordable, you’d know that these types of devices are responsible for many issues. It’s old tech!
Peddle response, can and should be, part of your tune.....if your tuner isn’t including pedal response in their tune, you need different tuner, instead of one that just wants to sell you another expensive product.

Unfollowing this thread. My 2015 warranty expires this April.... so scary!
It is a lot of moneu for repair. Total cost is around 6k for mine covered by warranty. I do have the extended warranty, so I am covered until 2023.
