Everyone has an opinion, and brand loyalty to a degree. Specific to the MMR parts that I purchased, I have not seen failures. That, combined with a very fair bundle price, to me that makes it a pretty good product. I also purchased from Beefcake, as they recommended, so customer service was great. If Beefcake is cool with MMR, then that's good enough for me. They build some serious engines.

Goodness... how much does it cost to install all of this! :(
If you're doing it because of adding a supercharger, not much more as you'll have most of the front off for that anyway.

I was just going to do an ATI balancer, but if the on3 or boundary OPG's are only $200 it doesnt make sense not to really.

How can you assure us of this? I don't agree....ATI for me.
lol I guess I can't guarantee anything. But if you read the following post's in that thread, it seems clear he is not speaking of MMR. Nothing at all against ATI. I don't think my MMR is better than ATI.

The Ford email only spoke for ATI obviously becuase that's what the have tested and runs on the Cobra Jet. The other players on the market are Innovaters West and MMR/Romac and then I'm sure some off shore junk. I can't speak for Innovaters West, but the MMR is made by ROMAC of Australia and they have been in the Race balancer business for a long time and have always been known for quality. My take is the Ford rep was speaking to the cheap offshore stuff.

I went with a Boundary OPG and the MMR CG. Unfortunately, no one but MMR makes a CG.

I searched heavily about Boundary. They have yet to have a single failure. The only bad thing to ever find was a Facebook post from JPC with an unfinished gear. No more info, or even confirmation it was a boundary OPG.

I have a good friend who has been in the Miata game for a long time. Boundary is well known in the miata world for very high quality OPGs. They have sold over 650 sets of Coyote gears without a failure. Good enough for me.
Mpr makes opg and a cg.

Sounds good. I was just playing devils advocate:thumbsup:

There has been numerous engine failures in the Coyote Stock class in NMRA. These are stock, sealed engines in race cars with stock ecu's (by the rules). 4 of these engines have failed in the past year. What was the common factor???? They all had Innovators West harmonic balancers.

Ive heard from many people IW's was the one to avoid. I havent heard of any Romac failures. But i prefer the Ati unit, personally.

i believe the ford rep was speaking in reference to innovaters west, we have our fair share of failures with their balancers

on our paxton setups for the o/d we use the ati, and mmr makes a smaller water pump pulley for us

for the reg size we use the ati or the mmr romac balancer, never had a failure with either and we've done a ton of setups.

on opgs our best sellers are the mmr and tss, but we sell a fair amount of the boundary as well.

we haven't had any failures out of any of the three. we did have one boundary that wouldn't spin 360 degrees in the pump when we tested it before we put in it, but it was a set that travis was trying some new tigher tolerances on.

go with what you feel comfortable with.

our blue race car we have tss, our yellow 15 we have mmr and both are pushing over 1200 wheel

a couple of us Aussie boys saw the OPG drop video a few people been talking about we didn't believe it would break so easily, so we did our own and it did. obviously a drop test doesn't prove anything as it's not really simulating what's happening in the housing, but. it's not the method (which some may criticise) it's the message behind it, which is hopefully it may make some people take notice and make the changes needed. it's not just modulars, our inline 6-cylinder turbo's here in Australia suffer the same damage with the OPG's, once again they are powdered metal. one of them was dropped also, didn't break on the first drop, it did on the 2nd. the Coyote gear shattered on fist, the 6-cyl cracked.

in regards to what brands, always used TSS OPG's, have recently done some Boundary and so far so good, have been very impressed and the quality is good. in all honesty i don't trust them enough to run in my own car or anything that will be pushing serious power 1000hp+, but time will tell.

in regards to balancers, being in Australia, ROMAC is a brand been around for ages, we have been using them for 20 years, only know of a couple having issues (none Coyote) and those could have been user error and not manufacturer. i suggest any balancer you buy go over it really well by eye and then have it balanced itself. it's cheap enough insurance.

CG for S550 for now the MMR only one i seen, i know there is another 1 or 2 coming out soon. the MMR one is good, it's a strong. the problem stems from Ford, there's only .050'' or so of meat on it in the thinnest spots, but you make do with what you can work with.
