“First off I know nothing about audio systems” I have the 19 with the factory 9 speaker setup and not overly impressed with the sound, would it be worth it to upgrade speaker and get better sound? I will never upgrade head unit/add amp/woofer. If it’s beneficial to upgrade speakers what would be a good speaker to upgade too And what do I look for in a speaker?

Disable factory eq. See how it sounds first using forescan

Also before anyone can say what speaker and whether it is worth the upgrade; what type of sound are you looking for, or what type of music do you listen to mostly while driving?

With that type of music in mind, I think the best path in my opinion is to do as Free Penguin said and disable the factory EQ. Also consider disabling the center channel, since other members here have claimed it has helped them improved the audio in their Mustangs.

If after doing all that, and you still feel the a speaker upgrade is the way to go, look into something like Kenwood, Rockford Fosgate, Infinity; what you should target are models that require lows RMS wattage since the amplifiers on the nine speaker premium are not really working with much. From my experience and what I am running in my car (same nine speaker setup as yours); adding an amp to any aftermarket speaker is how you get them to shine. Otherwise I feel that you will be disappointed in the output, and end up down the amp path in the near future.

Thank you very much for the info, my car is 100% dedicated to autoX but would Like to get a little better sound out of the stereo without adding to much weight if possible, trying to lose weight off the fat pig is already hard enough 😂

I did what I suggested, it cost 28 bucks for the dongle, can do a bunch of stuff with it, disabled chimes etc.

but disabling factory EQ, + pulling the pin, or me I just used a pair of snips and snipped the green wire under my kick panel, can always be re attached one day. but I will never do it again.

for curiosity sake, put a giant towel folded up over center speaker, and listen, at least with factory eq disabled, it sounded wayyyy better. I preferred it immensely.
