I....Sadly. I.... I (holding back tears). I pulled my Procharger off!

4 years and 14k miles and I'm back to just a Steeda intake and tune for power. Kit was great and so much fun. Seem to never run out of power and was a constant tire killer.

I've been tracking more and more this year and the setup just wasn't working well on track. I've torn up about 4 serpentine belts at my last 3 events. The last one was an RPM belt from Gates. I talked to ATI several times trying to find a solution but at the moment I am just too beat up to keep it on. Maybe because I was running only 6 ribs. Maybe the stock tensioner was bad. Maybe something else. Don't know.

On the plus side, I expect to learn more with less power. Less power should help build up my corner speed and corner exit confidence. I'll be way less worried about the rear end stepping out. Years ago I raced sport bikes and it wasn't till I started racing mini bikes that I truly learned how to go fast. A 15 HP Honda Moriwaki 2 stroke taught me way more about corner entry and speed than a 600 ever did. Plus I got a lot faster on the 600 thanks to the mini.

On top of that, I was looking at my track addict data the other day and it blew me away how far away from full throttle I was in corner exit. Took a little bit of data studding to figure out that I was not going into boost until I was full straight, all the way out of a turn. My tune has a "shimmer" between no boost and boost. That shimmer caused some uncertainty for me and I unknowingly stopped crossing that line until I was completely out of the turn. That shimmer has always been there and I would say it was the only flaw in my tune. A local shop did the tune, it was not from ATI.

Funny thing too. When I pulled the kit, I found shredded belt in my alternator that I burned up the alt bearings a bit. It still spun and it still generated power but it no longer free spun. I don't think I would have caught that without pulling the kit. Alt and tensioner have been replaced as well.

At the moment I am going to hold on to the kit to make sure there are no regrets. At least a few track days to make sure I don't miss it. If I do, I'm going to probably upgrade the pulleys and add more ribs. I don't think I will though.

Car still feels great. It is missing that punch but still pulls. I'm back on track in a week and that will probably tell me everything I need to know.
