Anchor Room Tint Kit

For any of the members who have applied any of the tint kits for your lights how warm was it when you installed it? It has been in the 60s where I live:doh:, and I know the instructions say that it needs to be 70 degrees. If I apply the tint kit in a shop with a heat gun, and let it settle overnight will it still be a successful install?

I did it when it was like 60, worked fine for me. I failed bad on the headlights and fogs so I ripped them off, all the rear stuff was easy

I've tried to put the corner marker tints on my girls car twice now, and can not for the life of me get all the 'fingers' out.....and the last time the tint got too hot from the heat gun and bubbled up...:(

That should be fine. In my experience cold just makes it harder to apply as it is more rigid and doesn't dry as quickly.

If it is t 100% perfect after the initial application (finger prints, tiny bubble, etc) don't fret. It really takes a week or two to fully cure and you'll be surprised how good the end result is.

• Try and do it in direct sunlight. You'd be amazed what you miss in a garage (lesson learned)
• Use the soap/water spray mixture liberally; spray the light AND THE BACK of the film. It's going to slide all over the place at first and you'll probably think it will never stick.
• Work any bubbles, excess water out with a felt covered squeegee.
• If you have a bubble or crease that won't work out, don't hesitate to pull the film back, spray some more solution, and start again.
• When it starts to tack up, start working the edges that wrap around. You may nee to use the squeegee to hold them for a few seconds to fully adhere
• On the rear lights there is a 'dot' in the center of each one from the mold. I had a couple that ended with a small bubble that would't work out from here. After a couple days of curing I took a xacto knife an made the smallest hole possible, got the air out and a week later it was perfect and not remotely noticeable.
• Be patient and take your time; the results are well worth it.

My only question about the direct sunlight, where I live it will be mid 50s to 60 degrees. Wouldn't this be to cold for the install? That was my main reasoning for going to install in a garage where it would be warmer. Would installing in the sunlight be more beneficial even in the cold?

It if were me, I'd do it in the sunlight unless I had extremely good lighting in my garage; I don't.

Just before you start hold the hair blower on you lights for a couple of seconds.
They warm up a bit for better result.
And make the soap with warm water.

Keep the heat gun moving across the vinyl, I had it sit for maybe 4-5 seconds as I was working out some fingers, and that's all she wrote.

Use a hair dryer. Doesn't get too hot.

Fogs were a bitch, but once you get the experience of doing it not so bad. i posted pictures on my build thread, hair dryer will be your best friends, and a lot of precision. Once you get the hand of it, each light will take less then 5 mins.
