Anyone ever open up their analog instrument cluster? Asking because I'd like an idea on how hard it is to get to the small LCD display between the speedo and tach.

I have slight screen burn in all the screens (radio and analog instrument cluster). I already replaced the radio display assembly, now I want to tackle the cluster.

I cant find any info at all on this, most of the threads and searches go to info about digital clusters and retrofits.

So for the cluster, cannot find much info so I am going towards buying a used one just to get the center LCD to replace the slightly burnt one in mine.

If anyone has any leads for just the LCD that would be appreciated.

If you find a used cluster of the correct part number with lower miles than you currently have on yours, I believe Forscan allows to over write the mileage. Meaning you can go up, but not down. This way you don’t need to disassemble anything.

That would also be an option, thanks! But my cluster is in KPH (I'm OCONUS) and Ebay or breakers like Midway look to be the easiest to get a cluster from, but they are all in MPH.

Very simple. I opened up one from a 2005 to replace 2 gauge motors. So, I can't say for certain what the difficulty level is on the LCD removal. It's been several years since I did this.

Im not sure if the PATS system is still in the cluster. It was in 99 and 04. If you dont know how to get the resistor or what ever is in there you will have to go to the dealership to get it programmed. Im hoping im wrong or that foreskan will work.

At this point not looking to swap in an entire cluster. Would have to change it to KPH from MPH which I think Forscan cant do. And I'd have to find one with low mileage (<15k) as Forscan can only adjust it up.

I suppose a whole cluster would actually be viable if they could be converted to KPH, then I could just swap in my existing gauge faces.

I believe MPH and KPH are selected in Forscan. PATS is in the BCM.

Hmmm...I'm warming up to the idea of having a MPH speedo as my 2015 is mostly US specced.

Finally found a pic of the cluster without the front bezel! It looks to be a removable LCD like the Explorer, Focus, and Escape have (all of which you can find replacements for on Ebay all day long).
