Anyone know if the aluminum engine block has some sort of corrosion protection from the factory? I don't believe so because mine is developing areas of white aluminum oxide.

Anyone use any sort of protectant or polish for the front part of the engine block (the part seen when the hood is up)?

I haven't seen any corrosion issues with the aluminum on the engine. But we used to use Corrosion X to protect the interior structures of our aircraft. It will collect dirt however but if you detail your engine regularly it would be negligible. Aluminum Oxide is definitely unsightly.

It's protected from corrosion by being made from aluminum....
Not trying to be a dick but aluminum does corrode. I do know of a product called sharkhide that is suppose to protect bare aluminum. I have not personally used it but, something to check out. Good luck!

Aluminum oxidizes to prevent corrosion. Aluminum is hugely attracted to oxygen, in fact. Just don't destabilize the aluminum oxide and it won't corrode.

Yup. Definitely does. Some people have issues with some of fords aluminum hoods and the paint bubbles and peels because of it.
