Alarm going off when disconnecting battery

Hi,when I go away for a few months I disconnect the battery negative lead,but then the alarm goes off for about 5 minutes then stops.Any tips to avoid this please? I can't use a trickle charger as carport is too far away.Thank you.

This happened to me with an older KIA SUV. The car does this in case it is being stolen.
I suppose you could locate the fuse for the horn and pull that. Then replace the fuse and cable when you are ready to go again.

I feel you! That alarm going off for 5 minutes can be super annoying! One tip that might help is to use a battery saver or a memory saver device. These devices connect to your car's OBD-II port and keep the alarm system powered, so it doesn't think the battery is dead.

Another option could be to use a solar-powered battery maintainer, which can be placed near your carport. These devices are designed to keep your battery topped up, even when you're not using the car.

This happens if you disconnect the battery when the car is locked.
Just unlock the car then open the driver's door - this de-activates alarm.
Then shut the door, make sure everthing is turned off and don't lock the car then disconnect the battery. ..... easy fixed !!!

This happens if you disconnect the battery when the car is locked.
Just unlock the car then open the driver's door - this de-activates alarm.
Then shut the door, make sure everthing is turned off and don't lock the car then disconnect the battery. ..... easy fixed !!!
