When I took delivery of my 2016 GT, there was a car hauler loaded up with S197s from 2014 thru earlier than 2010 leaving the dealer.
I asked what that was about and was told there was an airbag recall and no replacement parts so dealers couldn't sell those cars so they were unloading them at auction after giving up on getting them fixed. My salesman claimed that dealers took a bath on a lot of them before they realized there was no fix and basically stopped giving more than scrap value (exaggeration) for trade ins. He claimed people have been waiting for the parts for years.
Is that true? And how many cars had the bad airbags? I had a 2011 Performance Package I bought new and never got a recall.
I had heard of a major airbag recall that effected lots of brands but if that is what this is I can't believe it would take Ford years to fix them.
