About $1000 all said and done for the drag kit. The street kit adds more to it.what does this brake setup cost? I see Juggernaut has a rear brake setup but it is about $1800.

Im not exactly okay with the idea of spending that money then having to work to make it fit. Im not going to grind on a fresh part or my suspension to make it fit. Im just not into that. The kit is almost a bolt on. I just did it over the weekend. A little grinding for some clearance is needed and of course the brake hoses. It is as close to bolt on as it gets. I've done at least 6 other brake kits on other cars of mine and requires less work than most.
100% correct. I too come from the fox body days with a naturally aspirated 401 with a svo 351 block and Yates heads running through a Jericho DR4 4 speed and 9" strange. The fox body cars were a lot lighter then our S550 cars. I have aero space drag brakes front and rear on my fox body. About every 100 pounds is about .1 tenth reduction in the 1/4 mile. And like you said it never wears out, it's less stress on the car and parts, and performs better. It's a win win. Some people just don't get it. Try putting cement shoes on and see how fast you run compared to running shoes. Good luck.I can understand and appreciate your position, but I come from 2,700 lb. 600-800 HP Fox Body days. So a car that's 1,000 lbs. heavier rides heavy on my mind and being N/A, weight is one area to focus on. I agree these cars are powerful and nice riding and the FI crowd is less interested in weight reduction. Remember this, weight reduction is a performance gain that never wears out, never has to be replaced or updated. We all have different desires with our S550s and that's good bc a diverse crowd will keep the car in production. Remember there's no sensible reason for this car to be produced. It's only purpose is self gratification lol.
Oh and being able to run 15" rims gives more sidewall to work with for traction and less weight again in the rim.![]()
Thats what in waiting on. I want to give aero space my money. Just want direct fit.I'm not sure but aero space, strange and willwood all make drag or lighter street/drag brakes. Either way. The s550 irs is still new. Give the brake manufacturing companies sometime. They'll make a direct kit. The IRS is here to stay and it's a proven setup and performer in today time.
Don't know if they've made changes, but they're having a sale 30% for for Memorial Day. Makes them a lot cheaper!Thats what in waiting on. I want to give aero space my money. Just want direct fit.
Thanks. I noticed that advertised about a week ago. Ive actually given up on doing their brakes, gforce axles strange s trac diff and the full bmr catalog. My new plan will cost a few grand more but itll be worth it for where im going. High 7s. After you add up all those mods its already 6500ish. Might as well spend 2500 more. Itll also remove 170lbs from the car. Im going with watson racings 9 inch rear end kit. Itll compliment my th400 swap very well.Don't know if they've made changes, but they're having a sale 30% for for Memorial Day. Makes them a lot cheaper!
Might pick up a pair if they are in fact bolt-on w/o modifications.
I seen the Watson tubular IRS when I did my dyno pulls. They had a display model in the waiting room and also seen one on a car while it was on the lift. John allowed me to get under the car and look. Nice piece. If I was gonna drag race again I'd definitely use it for sure.Thanks. I noticed that advertised about a week ago. its svtperformance ;)
It feels like a a lot of money when you look at the kit as a whole, but when you add up the price of all the bmr stuff and Viking shocks i was gonna use, axles, an s trac diff, front and rear brakes from aerospace, its not too far off in cost. The big plus is itll drop way more weight off the car then the other way. I also like its set up for drag racing in mind, where the other wouldn't do as well even with all the other parts thrown at it. Plus the serviceable greese fittings rocks. Also moving the brakes to remove rotational mass will help the car be faster too. Its only about 3500 more once i decide on strange, or viking or strange shocks. Also adding a diff and gear selection I might as well go this route. Too many pros about this kit to ignore it anymore. I know you have high standards so its good to hear it meets your expectations. I wasnt worried based off their reputation and pictures, but its nice to have someone reaffirm it though.I seen the Watson tubular IRS when I did my dyno pulls. Lol. Thanks! Yeah you can ask anyone that knows me personally. I'm very picky and anal. I like the nice quality expensive things in life. That Watson piece is very nice. Like I said if I was still into drag racing I'd buy one. In the fox body days I was making some tubular K members because all the offerings at that time were not that nice in workmanship. Back then the Anthony jones unit was nice. When I was at Watson looking at the display rear Irs unit I liked the advantage of less weight, more room, quality construction, quality parts, and good price. Plus it's a direct bolt in. I would definitely go the Watson IRS over the other alternative offerings for sure if I were drag racing. Are you going to also use the Watson front set up? ....i wish i hadnt just read that they have a front set up too  im going to be getting their guidance on the th400 swap and most of the parts they offer for it. Im not sure if ill need their front set up. However i havent seen anything on the net about it or their site. As long as it isnt too expensive i could go that route. Im already putting around 47g in this build over a period of time. At least when it's done itll smack a stock cobra jet around like its in reverseLol. Thanks! They've had the front before the rear Irs. Beefcake has a thread of his install.....i wish i hadnt just read that they have a front set up too  im going to be getting their guidance on the th400 swap and most of the parts they offer for it. Lol. Watsons own drag car runs the front k member and rear IRS. Along with their motor mounts.What...time to search his thread posting history
