Hello a parking pillar jumped out of nowhere and hit my quarter panel and bumper so I've been dealing with the repercussions with some touch up paint.

Attaching pic for reference, car is 2016 Mustang GT Cali special.

Unfortunately I don't really like how it came out so I've decided to to redo it with at least a full set of rattle cans ,so i bought the base coat, body filler for scratches, 2k clearcoat and plastic adhesion promoter, however I'm having issues with finding the right primer and figuring out the dent.

Will bondo body filler be enough to fill the dent and sand it down to shape?

Google says to use a plastic primer on the bumper and epoxy primer on the quarter panel since there is stretch where it was stripped to metal -marked in red.
Is that the correct way to do it or I can use one primer on both surfaces ?

Any other thing i should know? Thank you

That's a bad spot. PDR won't work.

Bumper needs to come off, dent pulled out, body filler, prime, paint blend. $1500 or so.

I had the exact same dent from a parkade pillar that jumped out haha.

I just hate when pillars just jump out and slap my car. Just wanted to relieve some anguish with some humor.

Seriously, I hate that for you. I've been there and done that myself on another car in the same location, with similar pillar contact. Not fun at all.

As for Bondo, your best results would be to shape the dent back out and minimize the amount of Bondo needed to smooth the surface. (Bondo shrinks over time when you have much Bondo thickness, and it will deform/crack over time.) Been there too.

It doesn't appear that you have much paint damage (except where you circled) so you may be better off to shape it back out from behind if you can and then touch up paint only the circled area. (I don't recall if there's a hidden panel back behind that location preventing access, but if you can access from behind that would be great. The tack pin pulling method increases surface damage to where it may increase the surface area needing fixed.

As for rattle can, the finish may look somewhat decent at first, but you'll probably be disappointed a year from now, as rattle can paint hasn't anywhere near the durability formula as factory paint to resist fading. A clear coat over the TU base paint would be good, even if the base color is white. Don't use a lacquer paint as you will get spiderweb cracking as the lacquer shrinks over time with UV exposure. Yep, learned that the hard way too.

Best wishes on your repair.

Spend the money or file a claim and have it fixed by a professional shop that will warranty the repair and paint work. You won't be happy with a self repair covered with a rattle can paint job.
