Just to confirm, springs wont, fit on a new GT, (Gt and EB have different rates), but I may be privy to taking them off your hands :frusty: .

Rest of the bits can me taken off with a few screws, nuts and bolts and the like, easy enough. (Tints is a hair dryer, gear knob is just your hand to revert to stock)

The strange thing is you could probably sell all the mods to the person buying your car. The modified car world is a strange one lol.
When I bought my Megane R26 I was told it was stock... found out it was decatted at the MOT lol. Always wondered why it smelt so bad!

When i sold my S197 the most important thing was photos and loads of them.
you will get sellers phoning you up, making out they are a punter, when in-fact they are dealers.
be prepared for the long haul
Mods are strange, mine had a much more expensive glass fibre hood which would never rust, and most people wanted the stock rust buckets
I had chrome wheels was advised to get a stock set, so managed to get a set of rims and rubber for am amazing ÂŁ150, and the person who brought the car loved the chrome and a year later, they are still on the car.
you can't predict what people will go for
with the mods, play up the improved safety factor of the springs and how the car is more safer round corners, otherwise people might think the car has been raced all over the place
I sold mine from eBay, but it took months, and when someone offers you cash, its difficult to turn down
also if you go for test drives, do it a few roads away from your home
for me I would have lost 2k on PX, so had to sell mine, got a decent price in the end, not a great price. but was not to bad
are you on Simply Mustangs? they are massive now, and a advert on there would see a massive audience.
Also the MOCOGB is seem by a lot of people
And if you are offered a cash sale, I met the people at the bank so the money was counted by the bank staff and put straight into my account
1st of all he wanted to bring the money round to mine on the Friday night, NO WAY was i going to do that
and be prepared for a lot of people just after a quick drive and who will ask you if they can drive it, and will tell you BS about how they can drive any car
good luck :D

I wouldn't let anyone test drive my corsa, i'll turn the radio off and take them for a drive, I'd do the same if I was selling my 'stang, they aint gonna drive the car. They aint insured for it, they aint writing my car off, only way they're driving it is with a signed legally binding document that says if they fk itup, they pay my list price for it, and they take the car away and it's their problem lol!

Thanks Larry - photos not a problem. My phone is full of them lol. Will give simply Mustangs a look...

Agree with Manders on the test drive, not going to offer it. May take someone out if they agree to come and view it...

Simply Mustangs is a FB group I admin, along with the UK S550 group, SMUK has a lot of owners, but a fair heap are collectors... If you join (and join facebook) i'll approve you in when I see the name pop up. :) :headbonk:,

Otherwise I can post them up for you on there.

You can usually tell who are the time wasters by asking a few questions on the telephone call. Also, I'd get rid of the mods as they usually affect resale value. I'd only accept cash, unless they bank with the same bank as me and the transfer happens while both in the branch. If taking cash follow them to the bank, get them to draw it out in the bank to prevent any counterfeit notes (they may need to give 24 hours notice to the bank if large amount).

I've never let anyone drive a car that I'm selling. I don't mind taking them out, with me driving, if they seem genuinely interested, (but only after taking a photo of them and the reg number of the car they've turned up in, and then sending that photo to somebody just in case they try anything). Nobody has ever objected to me doing that.

As others have said, lots of photos are always good and I'd take the mods off. A lot of people will be put off by uncertainty around how their insurers would react.

I've had the most success using Auto Trader, although Pistonheads is also good.

As for payment I wouldn't release the keys until I had cleared funds in my account. With the speed bank transfers can be processed these days it shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't accept cash (certainly not for that amount) and if it's a bankers draft phone the issuing bank to ensure it's not stolen or forged.

Finally be aware of people phoning and offering to buy unseen for the full asking price, then sending you a cheque for more than the asking price, asking you to refund the difference back to them, or give it to the driver who collects the next day. You can guarantee that cheque will be stolen and you'll lose whatever amount you "refund". I actually had someone try this on with me a couple of years ago, thankfully I'm naturally cynical and just gave their details and the cheque to the police.

Ha ha, yes and if they say something along the lines of "your ride is phat, love to take that Ferrari you got advertised for a spin innit"

That's a difficult one, i'm in two minds on that. I'm reluctant to let people drive a car I'm selling but if I was buying a car I'd expect to be able to drive it to check for faults they could easily conceal by not letting me drive. Probably let them drive in an empty car park (or similar) if they looked genuine, only one of them and had insurance on the car for the day.

Oh, you bought up a good point Dragon1972 about payment.

I did the following with my Corsa:

Agreed a down payment to hole the car, of ÂŁ1k, and then they transferred the other 4k when they got home, and arranged a pick up day, then once funds had cleared I submitted all the relevant V5C forms etc, with the lad who bought it, and on the day did a hand over, of the car (Was actually after Silverstone ;)! ) and send him on his way!

any examples?

Thanks for all the replies guys. Seems it would be better to remove the mods.

Almost tempted to book in to Modurstang the same day as Manders so I can flog you my springs ;)

Mother f**ker I was more hoping you'd give them me for free at the cost of me removing all the other bits instead of you having to pay mike to do it :ninja::ninja::lol::lol::lol::lol:.

I wont tell you when I'm going to Mike now ;)!
