Advice on paint matching engine and coil covers needed.

yeah that's why I'm doing it myself. I know how to paint with a can though so I feel comfortable doing it. If it gets ruined not like I can't buy oem covers

You can find instructions on internet / youtube for doing it yourself. How long it takes will depend on how many steps you want to take sanding / polishing the clear coat. As for the lettering / stripes on the pieces, you spray your base coat, then apply some clear coat over the letters and stripes. Mask off around letters / stripes and spray your stripe / letter color and use some thinner to remove the overspray (this is why you clear coat so you don't remove base coat), then when all lettering is done, clear coat the entire piece. That's when the fun begins with color sanding and polishing.
Parts will hold up fine as many have done this already. Here's a couple pics of mine that's been done for 3+ months now.

Man, that looks killer! The process you describe sounds time consuming. One thing I lack is time. May have to scrap this idea or pay someone else to do it.
