Hello all,

For now, I'm ok with the decent sound from the Shaker Pro system... but compared to my 2005 Mustang GT, the bass is really weak.

So I've ordered a subwoofer and amp package.

Question is, would it be best to tap into the audio line going to the factory sub? I have a high to low input converter to use.

I've read the forum posts but I'm not entirely sure anyone has tried this with the shaker pro system.

I am very interested in this. I have the regular 9 speaker shaker system and it's lacking tremendously. I was looking to purchase JL w3 and 500 amp. I've read about amps taking digital signal or analog etc, I want to make sure I get the right equipment and that it'll work for application. I used a RF amp tapped into my factory Infiniti amp and it was awesome, hope it's the same here

I did adjust the bass/treble/midrange and again, the sound is pretty good but the track I use to test any new system is (oddly enough) the Jurassic Park soundtrack overture.

It has a great range of trumpets and strings and deep bass... and the very end has a rolling bass that in the old shaker pro system produced a great deep rumble.

The newer/smaller subwoofer comes nowhere close. I don't want to be going down the road thumping but I do want that solid deep bass when it's supposed to be there. The new system simply doesn't provide it.

The attached pics are of the old shaker sub and the new one. Pretty obvious why there is a major difference! lol

Wanna sell the original sub and box?
I'm probably going to keep the stock sub/box. I'm really particular about not removing any stock items and only making mods I can easily undo.

But if I change my mind after the install this weekend, I'll PM you for sure!

Well I added a sub box/woofers/amp and it sounds SO much better. I set the crossover to where only the deepest notes awaken the new subs so the factory sub can do its thing in most cases and there is not a ridiculous amount of bass unless there's supposed to be.

I found a keyed power wire in a black connector plugged into a black box behind the factory sub. I told myself I'd remember the color of the wire but after a dozen other weekend projects, I forgot. If anyone gets stuck, let me know and I'll pull the factory sub and have a look again.

I wonder if the non 12 speaker system, the regular shaker in the premium has the power wire ran behind the carpet. Usually cares go in with the same harness, just missing options to plug in.

Sometimes, but that's probably a buck or two worth of copper - so maybe not in this case.

I really like the stock sub enclosure since it takes up basically no trunk room. The Shaker 1000 in the S197 really ate into your trunk space.

Agreed... it's a trade-off for sure. More space/less bass, more bass/less space.

In my case, this is a car strictly for weekend cruising so the space isn't a factor, though I did set the subwoofer box up so it's easy to remove.

I'll take pics of the set up and post soon.
