Anyone know if the UK mustang is going to get Adaptive cruise control?

That would be the cherry on top.

Probably more due to the technology they use not being approved for use in the EU (and I know other cars have ACC over here).

The global car wasn't really designed as such no matter what they tell us...

Agree. I think it was supposed to be from day 1, but there was either a lack of real effort (as you say), or the design project wasn't managed very well. I think I can easily live with the slight styling changes and I even quite like the rear lights now. But I would have paid good money for ACC/BLIS as its meant to be pretty good.



To stray even further off topic, I recall someone saying that the reason that the DRLs are disconnected is due to the fact there are 3 of them. It made me start to look at DRLs on other cars and there are all sorts going on. From the old Audi 'disco lights', to the PSA car below, which clearly has 3 separate 'tri bars'. Not fair!

I think we settled on the tri-bars being visible from the side, which isn't permitted.

I still love the fact that there are all these stupid changes for the sake of safety yet the car is supplied with tyres that will be hopeless in many of our countries for much of the year.

Far more dangerous than seeing 3 lights from the side.

The Ford Kuga (built in Spain)and exported throughout Europe,UK, Australia etc has ACC available in the Titanium and has done for 2 years.

Fair enough, but is it the same ACC system as fitted to the U.S. market Mustang? Even if an EU approved system exists for a different model they won't fit it to a car it wasn't designed for. Just my opinion; I could be wrong, it's happened before.

Don't know if it's the same system, but the ACC on the Kuga is located behind the grill (like the Mustang).

We aren't getting it in Australia either, so I think it's more of Ford being cheap and their understanding of a 'Global' car is different to us buyers. They did the same with the Kuga (Escape in the USA). The Escape has more features such as a large touch screen in the top of the range models, yet the Top range Kuga gets a small non-touch screen.

Yep, I think so too.

All this rubbish about the DRL's and bonnet vents etc is just a smokescreen to disguise the real reason: they were trying to keep the price down for the rest of the world.

If you compare the cost of a GT in the States versus it's cost in the UK or Aus, and then do the same with other brand new cars, I reckon the Mustang comes out pretty well.

IF that's why we're able to buy a brand new rwd V8 Mustang for ÂŁ35k here in the UK, then I'm ok with it. After all, what possible reason could they have for not giving us the extra dash gauges? Don't tell me that's due to legislation!

We don't get the remote start function either as it's illegal here in the UK. But I'm sure someone will hack the ECU eventually and figure out how to reactivate this function ;)

They cut down on those things because of the patchwork of motor vehicle standards that is the EU. Some countries allow remote start, some don't, some have no problem with the running lights and some do, finally some have no problem with the sequential brake lights as turn signals and some do. Ford simply made a car that can get an ECC (European Certificate of Conformity) rather than probably 5 different headlight, tail light, trim configurations for the European market which will probably only sell 20-30k Mustangs a year. If a car is built within the EU however and meets all of the requirements of the parent country it will get an ECC no problem. I believe the acc uses a frequncy of ka band reserved in europe and it wasn't worth the expense to change it.

Kuga is built in Europe so if the ACC is legal in the country of manufacture, it gets a pass in the EU same as hood vents on Ferraris Jags and Astons, You will not see them on imported cars.
