Active exhaust help

I do not have active exhaust for my 2019. If I bought an exhaust that had active exhaust feature could I still install and use it without any issues?

Below is a detailed thread. It's a long read but last 2 pages sum up what you're looking for. Looks like 2018 and low cars are easy (ish) to do but 2019 and up very difficult to simply not worth it. This is very unfortunate as Ford seems to keep the Active Exhaust on only the higher optioned Mustangs. And rarely on a base model. And with the lack of inventory coming in, there aren't that many around now even on 2020's.

As far as the aftermarket, a quick search shows Roush makes an Active Exhaust but it's crazy expensive. I haven't seen any other aftermarket Active Exhaust systems out there. They may exist. I just haven't found them. Of course there are tons of non AE aftermarket choices. But it's just not the same.

If you find something, let us know. It would make buying a new Mustang MUCH easier with so many more choices if we can add it after the purchase.

Thank you for your reply, I'm not looking to ad active exhaust, just wondered if the kit I came across (that has active exhaust) would hook up to my car no problems.

Like just use it as a regular exhaust.

it will bolt up just fine, could always just set the valves manually to what you want then leave it.

the active exhaust usually has an area for you to install the motors that control the valves. Not installing anything onto these will likely change the sound of the exhaust. Now if the exhaust your looking at comes with the motors this won't be an issue and the default on these setups open valve.

The AE in our cars is much more complex than the majority of valved exhausts, which only have valves on and off. So they're typically vacuum operated, but some are electric. However, the valves on the Mustang have FOUR settings, PLUS the valves are moving constantly; at least on the Bullitt. That's probably why they sound so good right out of the box. Therefore, if you didn't get them from the factory, you'd only be able to have them on or off. And the problem would be in off they're too restrictive for high-rpm operation (they open automatically in my car above 'x' rpm and/or throttle opening). And open would be 'track', which is a bit loud and raspy for me to have it on all the time. To me sport is just about perfect. Bottom line is I don't know how good the stock mufflers would be without the ECU factory AE tuning. In other words, it wasn't designed to have the valves just on (fully open) or off (fully closed). Hope this helps.
