2018 Premium GT PP1. Has Dual AC controls.

AC stops working when it is hot outside and I live in Arkansas so no AC is non-starter. I verified the relays and fuses. I collected some info from ForScan when it was working and not working. Screenshots below including a code for the Evap Temp Sensor. Forscan data shows AC_Inhibit_02 is keeping the AC from turning on. The explanation is generic on that data point, so I am assuming the temp sensor is the issue. I am new to Forscan, so if there are other data points I could collect to make sure this is the issue, let me know.

From my research, looks like the Evap Temp Sensor is integrated into the Evaporator and no way to replace just the sensor for 2018+. Also 2018+ not part of the evap recalls. Ford wants ~$1000 for a new evap and another $2000 to install. I found an Evaporator on LKQ that should work at a discount and the risk that goes with it.

Any other items I could check that could possibly be the issue before replacing the Evaporator? Thanks.

Read through this and maybe it will help. If I understand correctly, if you can find the evap temp sensor plug, you can unplug it, buy a sensor that's not an integrated part of the evaporator, rig it to plug into the connector and put it in the AC outlet vent. If you're able to figure out the specifics for the Mustang, it could save you some money.

Get a subscription to Motorcraft online for 24 hours. Put in your VIN, and take a look at the troubleshooting directions. You need to make sure you have power and ground going to the sensor. Is the sensor bad or is the wiring? You need to figure that out before swapping the evaporator out. I'd make sure the electric cooling fan is good as well. If it does not come on when commanded, may shut the AC system down. Check the power and grounds. The two may be unrelated, but you never know. I think you are on the right track, google the trouble code, see what pops up. Somebody may have already come across this and fixed it.

I haven’t found anything online for that code for a s550. Lots of info on older focus and other cars. I went ahead and bought a manual and wiring diagram from factory-manuals.com. Will perform further troubleshooting with the manual and see what i can find out. Thanks
