Well, yesterdasy I went to Donington Park to see the British GT cars on their press day. This year we get GT4 Mustangs from Multimatic!!

I was able to get up close and personal.. this made me very happy indeed...

Sorry for getting in the way in the first pic.. but I just had to!!

Hey Manders I just know you’re the person to ask this question..

Has anyone on this forum fitted the genuine GT350 front or the cheap Chinese copies yet? I fancy the look but fear the genuine will be very expensive and the copies might be crap??

Duh, why didn’t I think of that?? I have lots of pictures of his build on my PC and phone. I do know he had lots of fun getting it all to fit.

Mac put on a "fake" variant, mrbodykit/ikon mix up, a few others have a concepts ones, mr body kid, or Ikon variants in other groups on FB etc.

The "original" gt350 front end is a mammoth job, you need the entire front end including support brackets off a gt350. mac has one and is fitting it from a race crashed RuRed GT350.

The "Fake" variants do fit, but actual alignment can vary between pieces.

We've fitted a couple of GT350 front ends from Anderson Composites - the fit is actually pretty good - you do need to do a fair bit of prep work to get a good paint finish (remove the black finish it's shipped with then polyester the whole thing before painting) and of course you don't want to bake it ideally to avoid the fibreglass moving around. There is also a good deal of masking between the body colour and black sections which takes time to get right.

We actually did the yellow one for a well known Top Gear presenter which you might have seen - it has standard fenders. We've also done one with GT350 fenders (which was at the London Classic Car Show).

So in summary not a bad job to do but allow more time to paint than you might normally expect for a bumper.

Top Gear presenter?? Not aware of that one??

Thanks for this very valuable feedback. Have you experienced any pin holes or issues weeks after painting? I am very experienced with GRP as I have made many custom panels in the past. I made moulds and panels for the GT86 rocket bunny cars. So am only too aware of the pitfalls there are in the world today!!

Have you ever experienced the cheaper copies of the Anderson stuff? I see now there are steel GT350 fenders available?

Check Rory Reids instagram feed and you'll see it...

We haven't had problems - I'm not an expert and it sounds like you probably know more about it than I do - that's why we use a very good paint shop who have been painting our Ford GTs and everything else we do for the last 15 years and they're pretty fussy - I understand that the polyester is the key to getting a good stable finish.

We have seen and fitted Ikon carbon fibre parts which seemed close to the same quality as Anderson, though we haven't seen any other make of fibreglass parts. I haven't seen metal GT350 fenders either.

Yeah, polyester primer is amazing stuff. I always use it in the buck for mould making. It is practically the same as gel coat!!
The steel GT350 fenders are available in the UK and are £660 per pair. I think I’d want to see them before I paid out any money.
Any idea what a genuine 350 front package would cost? Hood, fenders, bumper, grilles, spoilers and radiator support?

trufibre ones seem to fit ok by all accounts i'm considering a set of the gt350 front wings from them (either that or the ikon ones)

now ikon are just resellers of the finest chinese replica's as far as i can tell https://www.xenonz.co.uk/mustang-6th-generation-products.html these seem to be the uk suppliers of the same things but considerably cheaper.

I just said a couple of words that I really shouldn’t write here, but I will say it started with F and ended with ucking hell!!!
Fibreglass it is then!!

Thanks for all your help. It’s unusual these days for tuners and shops to be so forthcoming with information. Thank you.

i priced up a full conversion ages ago as did mac and at the time with no uk grey imports of 350's it was insane as then there was shipping + tax etc now if he's been lucky enough to get a write off donor parts but there's still alot of ford only structural stuff you need too its not just the outer panels :(
