Fenders also look wider in front, maybe not gt350 wide, but certainly doesn't have the narrow front fat ass look of the car when launched for 2015

That's what I'm thinking also. I'm just guessing but I think Ford went to the GT 350 front aprons and strut towers?? Everything A pillar forward is the same now, unibody wise. Just my opinion, I'd really like some facts to back it up.

DUDE!!!! It’s the same apron!!!!! the overall front end height is achieved by lowering the radiator support which the 350 and the 18 have done. Therefore the fenders have to follow the new slope and the headlights sit in a mount which just bolts in and is not affixed like the s197 headlight support. The 350 fenders are wider to cover the difference in offset due to the wider track because of the knuckles unique to the 350. And yes the 18 front end does look wider which is achieved by the lower hood and front end. Dropping the front end will give the appearance of width. It's called perceived spacial dimension or an optical illusion. This is an architectural design feature used often.

I appreciate the explanation, I guess when I hear A pillar forward, im thinking structural design not just cosmetic.

I don't think they're moving to the aluminum fenders for 2018 regular Mustangs so that's one difference right there

You are welcome. To clarify, the apron is part of the frame and is spot welded in place.

Yes correct that's where I am/was thinking they have slightly redesigned the structural unibody design in the apron/strut towers, all in front of A pillar for a wider stands. I really hope the ford rep at the Chicago auto show knows more than just it's a 18 refresh. I have questions!!!

here is a good look at how Ford achieved the height reduction. If you look at the bolt holes you can see the step down which give you the lower hood line.

The '18 refresh is Fugly! Thank the Lord that they wont be using it for the GT350. Looks someone designed it to do some off roading I mean seriously check out the clearance difference between the rocker and the front lip.

As of right now I agree totally with you. I am waiting till this weekend to see it in person to fully decide.

That front just looks so dopey. When I see the front of a 15 - 17 car I think aggressive and charging. This just looks "derpa dur!"
