You are somewhat off - I bet the 22hp gain still holds and you simply start from a lower base to begin with. In other words stock 91 octane is 22hp lower than 91 tune and stock 93 octane is 22hp lower than 93 tune. But yes, stock 93 is ~10hp lower than 91 tune. and stock stock 91 is ~10hp lower than stock 93.
I'm sorry...What?

Today in San Jose, CA. $3.49 for 87 Oct. $3.69 for 91. By this summer it'll be

$4.69 for 91. California gas and prices SUCK!

Yup, it was cheap for a while... Back to reality.

10hp? That seems like quite a bit when you are getting only 20hp from 93 (Anthonys youtube vid says +22whp) $600 seems like a lot for a 10hp gain on 91, or am I way off here?
This is one thing that I've learned from this forum, when it comes to significant increases in HP for these 5.0L...

Tune w/ Tuner = $5 to $600.00

CAI = $300.00

Headers = $800.00

Exhaust = $1,400.00

Add it all up and install it = $3 to $3,500.00 in add ons/bolt ons = 75HP at best.

The only real significant increase in HP is Supercharging. Others will knit pick the costs and increases that these parts provide. But for me...I'm saving that money towards a SC for 150 to 200 HP increase.

No doubt, but those mods can be done over time whereas a SC is a big one-time expense. Also, it's not all about HP gains - tunes can enhance overall driveability and fun factor, exhaust gives you a giddy smile knowing you've got a real muscle car, and intakes make a cool air sucking sound and help that throttle response. If you're looking at HP as the only factor for mods, then you're not getting the whole picture.

That being said I'm going for the SC as one of the first mods (after my exhaust) ;)

Keep in mind that once you start to flirt with that 600-650hp range you are asking for trouble...the piston and rod are your Achilles heel.

Yes Sir! Agreed. The sinter forged connecting rods are an improvement over last years and the fact that the pistons arn't forged, esentially the same piston but different dome shape, is the weak link. Thats why I'll be keeping the boost and tune on the conservitive side.

Reminds me of the light bulb theory, those that burn the brightest...burn the shortest. We all know these motors are capable of burning oh so brightly but for how long is a gamble.

one of the centri kits will def be a good bang for the buck, of course we always start with full exhaust systems for the sound, but if your on a budget, a bolt on and go s/c system is never a bad idea
