Do you think it is unsafe to get the 800 hp shafts vs the 1400 hp halfshafts? I know this sounds like a silly question but money definitely is a concern for me, and I know I am going to stay N/A for a very very very long time, 500 to the wheels would be the most power I want out of my car. Do I risk snapping the 800 hp shafts at the drag-strip with radials and full bolt-ons or would I need to get the 1400 hp rated ones for reassurance?

It's $300, your in $1000 already.

Silly to not get 1400 axles at that point.

Now I could see it if it was $700 for the 800hp axles. But they aren't and at $1k + vs $1400+

Just get the 1400hp axles

Are the stock ones not sufficient for what you're wanting to do? It doesn't sound like you're going too far with the hp.

From what I've seen online, stock ones will snap with na bolt ons eventually. In my non expert opinion you will probably be fine with the 800s. I will eventually supercharge after I finish with my na mods, I only intend on the 800s. I don't plan on exceeding their capabilities for a long time. I will probably stop at 650 whp...Maybe a little more if the stock motor shows it's worth at higher levels.

I'll be more of a road course guy though with only occasionally hitting the strip.

At the power levels you're talking about, I would think it's overkill to get the heavier 1400s

The 1400HP ones are the best bet for never needing to worry about it. I have them on my car and they have already held 600RWHP(Supercharged) on 20in Drag Radials and 5000RPM launches.

The 800hp axles should do for most, although I have heard of someone breaking them with full n/a bolt-ons and sticky tires. They were an early set so not sure if that should be indicative of what they will hold up to.

Buy once.

No such thing as overkill in driveline.

Without any doubt if you have a manual or a auto with a trans brake
