"Typically, these types of shifts are disabled in performance applications, but lowering this value can allow singular OSS or VSS based shift points to be used."

I like how they take a jab at rollracing not being a perfomance application. LOL

You set the speed in Mph where it shifts at WOT in table 6509.

I chuckled at the description also.

I'm not able to test it out on my 15 car, but I'm curious if accelerating with the pedal position higher than minimum, do the paddle shifts no longer work in sport mode? Or is this saying it will upshift once you reach that pedal position?

Always wierd with the descriptions HPT gives. Scalar for minimum pedal for upshift.... the car upshifts with no pedal input in both D, S, and the paddles in both modes. What?

I believe it needs both, pedal position set in ECM6512 and Mph as set in ECM6509 in order to auto shift. I'll test to be sure. I'll also test padal shifting with pedal above and below set pedal position

I guess my other question would be, with lever in drive, above the set pedal position, can you upshift even if it will lower the engine RPM too much?... like could you be going 10 MPH give it a low pedal position then shift it into 6th with the up paddle and potentially stall the engine?

HPT gives people just enough to get their cars working properly... but some times they are convinced to reveal tables that you can do funny things with.

That is easy to test too. I'll post up tomorrow. If it does anything strange I'll let Eric know.

Could you not just paddle down in SportD to whatever gear you want to start your run in and then once you hammer the pedal you paddle back up to allow upshifts?

ThatDudeinBlue did a review on a VMP supercharged F150 awhile back and in that truck they had it setup so that in tow/haul it would downshift to whatever gear brought it closest to 3500rpm and then you just hammered the pedal and let it do the rest.

Speaking about 10R80 here., not sure if 6R works the same. But the min APP only applies to Sport SelectShift mode not Live in Drive. The factory default still allows WOT upshift (and kickdown) in Live in Drive.

In Sport SelectShift mode there are still min OSS upshift and downshift speeds. Table 21574 sets the lowest OSS you can upshift and 21571 sets the speed it downshifts at on deceleration. These prevent it from "lugging" the engine.

Could you not just paddle down in SportD to whatever gear you want to start your run in and then once you hammer the pedal you paddle back up to allow upshifts?
By SportD do you mean Drive then paddle? If so, then paddling down in Drive doesn't prevent further WOT downshifts nor upshifts.

I'm sure everyone has their own opinions on this, but how I set mine up, and this is for 700+ rwhp and daily driving:

Drive - 7200 rpm upshifts, shift character 0, lots of torque reduction on shifts, disabled downshifts in the lower gears. This is to keep the car controllable and safe in commuter situations and/or wet roads.

Sport - 7500 rpm upshifts, shift character 1, moderate torque reduction on shifts, still disabled downshifts in low gears.

Live in Drive - 7200 rpm upshifts, shift character 0, lots of torque reduction on shifts. Shifting is via paddle shifters, by definition, but the delay to return to Drive is 8 seconds. Automatic downshifting is disabled. This is intended for something like passing situations where you don't want an unintentional 700 rwhp downshift while changing lanes or something.

Sport SelectShift - 7700 rpm automatic upshifts, shift character 2 (aggressive), moderate torque reduction on shifts. Shifting is via paddle shifters with the exception of low rpm coast down (stall prevention) and WOT upshifts. Automatic coastdown downshifts stop at 2nd gear. 1st or 2nd gear launch are available. This is the data logging, dyno, and drag racing mode.

Yes, paddling down in drive and sport mode. No it doesn't prevent WOT downshifts by itself but that's why you start with a gear that it's not going to downshift out of.

Does paddling back up not force the upshifts at the time you paddle, rather than allowing them to occur at a pre-programmed speed?

I tested all of your concerns. It acts just like stock except when the accelerator pedal is past my set point, 25% in my case, and when in S mode it will auto shift at my set speed. Which equals 7200 RPM currently.

It acts just like Mike says the 10R80 does.

I call this a win. Thanks to Eric at HP and VeeFour a European dealer who also wanted this ability. I'm sure because the dealer chimed in on my request is why it got done so fast.

This is a simple way to keep from banging the rev limiter when in sport mode manual shifting.

If you are tuned by a tuner who uses HP tuners they now have this ability. If they question it tell them to look on the HP Ford trans forum.

Yes if you paddle up it will shift up right then, in D or S mode unless you are going too slow.

Interesting. That's not how it is in the trucks. WOT you can paddle up and it will stay in gear until the tune determined shift point. Manual mode it will upshift with the paddles but not Drive

Did another test tonight. It upshifts as soon as you hit the up shift paddle in D at WOT. Even with a pull down to a lower gear before going WOT.

Interesting that they would have the programming in the cars that way yet set the trucks up so that it holds the gears. Guess that’s what I get for assuming they were alike in that regard
