My Honda Accord Coupe came with Lighted Door Sills.

It always got a positive response from friends when they would see it for the 1st time. Strange how a gimmick like this draws so much attention.

You telling me! The damn little pony on the ground gets more attention than the rest of the car sometimes. Ill be talking to someone and just getting to the good parts "yes it's #275 of 1964" and open the door. They see the pony and get amazed.

The marketing approach that Ford took with these LEs is actually quite irritating.

As you guys have stated the door sills should have come factory installed, or offered as a option at order. Although a Ford Licensed product, it still feels like an aftermarket add on to me.

Also as someone previously mentioned the LEs are not the highest optioned GTs available, lacking the reverse park assist and the adaptive cruise control with automatic wipers. Kind of shocking Ford would cut out these two items on our cars.

Finally all the items that were originally announced to be unique to the 1964 LEs, the chrome trim and faux cap, were later decided to be offered as an appearance package on regular GTs. There is no exterior badgeing to signify the car as a Limited Edition. Unless one knows that they were the only ones offered with the three pane glass quarter windows, from the outside they look like all the rest.

Do not get me wrong, I love my LE and think the design of the car is one of the best they made for the Mustang, but the "Limited Edition" items were a bit lacking.

Nor is the colors.

As far as cutting what they did, I suspect that was to keep it under 50k. Except the revers park which is actually part of the package that the LE starts with. I think that was cut to not have those ugly ass dimples in the bumper. I'm glad they cut that. Logically, that's the only things that make sense.

However, it's as close to optioned fully as you can get. Sure you can get a gt with more, but it won't have the quarter glasses or a few other touches (including chrome DLO trim, which to me really sets the car off, and auto with PP)

In the words of my late grandfather, "you can't get there from here, you gotta go somewhere else and start".

I was planning on ordering a gt with every single option that the LE came with (minus pp since auto, but add 20"s). So it ended up working out for me.

UPS just came!

It wasn't my kit :/

Was my touch up paint to fix the spot it got scrapped on the front.

Kinda bittersweet.

Can someone tell me the service used? UPS, FedEx or USPS?

I'm pretty sure in some of the early press releases about the LE, it had listed "Lighted Door Sills", or maybe "Unique Door Sills", listed as an item to distinguish between the LE and the anniversary package. They must've left off te part about the extra $300, though. My poor search abilities are unable to locate either a thread or the paperwork I am thinking of.

They way they word it is a little tongue-in-cheek. they say "50yrs" instead of something like "limited edition", that way they can put them on the anniversary packages also, and there's nothing really 'unique" about what was promised...

My dealer showed me this but when the car came in he said not I never showed you anything stating that it would have 50 year aluminum door stills. Then I showed him the paper he gave me and all he could do was scratch his head. I still really like the LE Mustang. :ford:

Husker,

Although that does look very nice and would have been great on the cars, it is not OEM factory issued.
