50th anniversary welcome kit

I was kind of expecting a little robot horse that displayed a hologram of Henry Ford asking for my help to save the Mustang. He was saying I was his only hope and I had to do battle with several evil Camaro's to save the blue oval. Of course the robot horse would ride shotgun and tune my car for optimum output during our adventure. You can imagine my vast surprise and disappointment when I got a book about old cars, another owners manual, and a phone charger.

I wasn't expecting anything performance oriented. The original 64.5 mustang wasn't meant to be performance oriented and I'm actually a little surprised they used PP as base for this one for that reason.

I'm kinda indifferent. It's cool yeah but I won't use a charger. Neat collection piece for my shelf. I do like the certificate though to hang with other stuff.

I guess it's cause I bought mine to drive it. Not store it for future value or an investment.

I think I'm just going to buy the standard LE sills with the number on it and pass on the print. Even with the discount, $400, for something you can make yourself with the factory supplied picture and a little creativity, is a little steep in my opinion... **says the guy that bought a pig with lipstick** lol

Well I'm back home and waiting. Hopefully it'll show today. I gotta bring baby girl to get her cast off tomorrow morning then I'll be on my tractor spreading dirt for my upcoming shop. Maybe it'll show up while I'm home today or tomorrow.

I'm sure I'll end up with the photo too. I have this weird obsession with completing sets when collecting stuff. It's why I didn't keep a magazine article about the LE. Cause then I would go nuts trying to get every single article written.

When I made the decision to purchase my LE I was unaware of the "Welcome Kit" and it had no impact on my decision. Having said that, I too am a little disappointed. Its contents have been the subject of a lot of speculation on here and many people had some really cool "ideas" of what it might include. Like Siggy said, perhaps we let our imaginations run a little too wild, causing our our expectations to be unrealistic. Not really sure why the LE lighted door plates were not in the car when purchased and, personally, I do believe the picture should have been included in the welcome kit. But it is what it is. I will likely get both the picture and the LE door plates and continue to love this car and be glad I made the decision to get it.

Agreed, I still love the car. I find myself staring at it in my garage way too much. Really need Spring to get here so I can start driving her more. It will be in her first car show next weekend, so that's going to be really fun too. Also, need to finalize my decision on exhaust.

The body color matched phone charger is a nice touch. iPhone never makes it through the day. I'm with most of you in thinking the numbered sills are the way to go. My dealer gave me the info on the print a few months ago and I passed then too.

The charger is neat but my phone does make it through the day, and I have a charger at my desk, in my car and in my shop lol. Not sure wether I will make a use for it or leave it pristine.

Will withhold comment on the kit until I receive mine (which I assume is weeks out with my recent purchase of 1260).

I suspect I'm one (but probably not the only) who have bought and thus received owner kits for the 1999 Limited Edition and 12/13 Boss 302. Should make the comparison interesting (although under thrilled currently and the Boss kit seems to have ruled the day).

Only known complaint so far by ME..is the lighted door sill issue. Not sure what Mustangs (if any) it is standard on (lighted) but not happy to see this 'sales" gimmick with the LE. I will drive my LE but it is going to stay factory original (aside from gas and air in the tires) so removing my "as factory installed" plain plates is not really an option (will see how well they can be removed and re-installed without harm).

This car was $$ for a Mustang and carried almost every option but the glass roof. And yet they get cheap on this one part that should have stood out as part of the LE package!!! Really-they gotta pull this trick to make a $300 parts sale.

Yes, I will spend the $$ and buy the 50th Limited/numbered sill plates (who knows how long they will be available) to keep with the car but it is ticking me off to do so.

Don't be so sure about when. I was the first one here to get my LE (it was a retail order), and as far as my dealer can tell, the first one in the country to register it (very hard to tell though). And I don't have my kit yet lol

My Honda Accord Coupe came with Lighted Door Sills.

It always got a positive response from friends when they would see it for the 1st time. Strange how a gimmick like this draws so much attention.
