This is a work in progress.
That is why I was advising caution. You need to find out ALL the facts and charges before someone jumps in.

Do some more legwork for YOURSELF. Take some of the hints I gave you. They may work, they may not. YOU have the power though. I'd hate to see them laughing behind your back at that dealership knowing they have tricked you into a price when they will recoup it on that ludicrous doc fee and ON TOP OF THAT have you out drumming up business for them.

Group buys only work when a dealer/business can order a greater amount of merchandise at a lower cost per unit. Then they pass that savings along because they have the buyers lined up (maybe even paid up as well). These dealers ARE NOT going to get a better deal from Ford by ordering more Mustangs. They pay the same price on each unit for one or for one hundred. There is no discount from Ford to dealers that sell a lot. They will get a finite amount and that is it. They are having you go do their job and try to lure people in with a lower price that they make up for on their ridiculous doc fee charges. Don't let them do that to you. I'm trying to help you out here. Negotiate on your own, then if you get a good deal suggest it to us here and others may follow it up.

I don't like dealer games but remember you have the last say. I'm going to make a guess here and see your username is Noah1200. If you are Noah, I'm going to guess you are younger (I may be wrong). Maybe in your 20's with a first name like that? Dealers will see that you are younger and try to take advantage of that as lack of experience. Salesmen are hyenas for the most part, they look for ANY weakness. (Yes there are a few good ones out there, but they are in the minority.) It might not be the case at all but I'm trying to help YOU out here. :)

Give him a break. He negotiated a very good deal. If he gets his four other people I say good on him. I mean you have fools paying MSRP and in some cases(*cough* useless LE *cough*) more than MSRP. He might get under invoice so chill on him a little.

I think I understand now. But when you said you had an offer in writing, it gave the impression that it was a done deal.

But there's no need to beat a dead horse. Live and learn.

Just HAD to throw that in that jab about the LE didn't you....you could have made your point and left that out. I think there are at a minimum 1964 ppl that would disagree with you out the gate...make that 1965 and count me.

The thing is with that $689 doc fee he really didn't negotiate any better deal than X-plan. I'm actually trying to help him out here. Now if he gets that price AND negotiates the doc fee down several hundred dollars I WILL be impressed. I would give the same advice to those that pay MSRP as well on regular not LE models as well. He is working for the dealer in a roundabout way by trying to find more people to agree to this pricing. I'm trying to help him turn the tables.

I'm in Northern Virginia and have dealt with Ted Britt in Fairfax, KipKilmon/Tyson's Ford(now defunct), Koons Ford Sterling(now right down the street from me), and online with a NoVA dealer who is a member here. Shoot me a PM with the details and I'll see if I can verify anything and/or conclude whether the deal is solid or not.

Ted Britt Fairfax is where I bought my current 2011 and will definitely go there first to see what they are asking for their 2015's. I'm not going to be buying until 2015 due to just having bought a house but I can always rekindle our communication about the Mustang(previous sales manager was pretty cool).

I actually considered, seriously, getting the LE solely because I like Kona Blue better than Deep Impact Blue. I was willing to pay the extra ten grand or whatever it would have cost me just to get that color.

In the end, the fact that I didn't want a car with the performance package kept me from doing it (can't use summer-only tires and the stiffer suspension would probably be a problem on the rough roads I drive on).

I see that it is high but in this region the dealerships that I have spoken to all have processing fees around $500.
Wow, move to Washington. State law here caps doc fees at $150, and even that is negotiable. On a side note, Ford caps doc fees at $100 for X-plan buyers nationwide.
