Based on interior size, the GT86 twins aren't 'on trick'. The Miata, yes. If they can get a 300hp motor into the GT86 twins, I may have to check it out.

Throw a 400 hp turbo kit in it for 5k.
400 rwhp @ 2800 lbs? Yes plox

Found it. Innovate Motorsports offers a twin screw supercharger built into the intake manifold for the FA20 motor and offers a liquid to air intercooler. With that and an exhaust, the car puts down 245hp/200ftlbs at the wheels on a baseline tune with 8psi. They offer a different pulley, too. On a car that weighs <3000lbs...
Edmunds was using IM's 91 tune. Weird.MotoIQ just installed the inter cooler portion of their supercharger build but didn't break 200whp due to their 91 octane California piss water.

Other than total weight loss, I think it is as critical if not more is the weight distribution. Based on the pictures, it seems to me the overhang seems to be a touch more than compared to say a M3. But having heard some of the comments from Ford, it appears that they are concerned about the weight over the front of the car so with my fingers crossed, I really hope it at least will have at most 52/48 or hopefully more like 51/49.
+1 on hopes of weight distribution but if the d@mn battery was in the trunk it'd be a 60lb+ swing and ~1%.I was thinking the same thing.
Notice how they released a lot of info, but completely mum about weight & distribution. Not even a credible rumor.
Secondly, I really hope Ford hit "it's mark" on weight, because it might be the deciding factor for me. And if it, is anything close to the ATS/maro (@ essentially 3,300lbs +/-), ..then I am in, because then you'll be able to finesse that IRS..! & save $25k over the much bloated M4, for track MODZ.!! (& winter shoes)
Again, like WestRace said, even if the weight reduction isn't that drastic, perhaps they BALANCED the car out. I would like to see how she drifts.. to see the balance/control!

That "bloated" M4 weighs 3300lbs and is lower with a carbon roof and composite trunk.
Yep that' a no brainer - they have obviously never felt the weight of Battery Cables. The OEM battery weighs 32lbs. To mount it in the trunk would increase total weight by around 20-25lbs because of the larger battery cable(both length and gauge to offset voltage loss due to resistance) and also the addition of a voltage distribution box.
