Ok I’m standing under my car and expected to see a visible nut on the yoke. Nope. I only have the four bolts for the d/s. Do I remove it and then see it? Am I looking totally wrong here? Ok I just found the right angle and see the nut!! 🤦‍♂️

Thanks Dave - this sounds very similar to my issue. I am also not throwing any codes. I rarely use cruise control, but did a couple times in the late fall and it was acting up... some times not even engaging. After a shut off and restart a few days later, cruise seemed to work ok but I did experience that odd rpm fluttering again.

Cars are in for their winter hibernation now, so I will be revisiting this in spring 2025.
This sounds very similar to a problem I had about 4 years ago and it turned out to be the transmission output flange nut. Dealer replaced the output flange nut and I have not had the problem since.

I should note the problem happened after I pulled the car into a parking spot and let off the clutch while my other foot was on the brake while the car was still running (got distracted by something going on outside the car). When I let out the clutch it really jarred the drive train and I remember thinking, crap, that did not sound or feel good. On the next startup and drive home was when I noticed the strange behavior and the wrenching coming on and off as well as the issue with the cruise control not working.

After a few more drives of noticing it I did some research and heard from others here on the board who had similar symptoms saying it was the output flange nut. At that point is when I went to the dealer and asked them to diagnose and repair.

How soon did you get the repair done after it happened? Did the wrench light go away on its own, or did the tech have to do it during the work?

Had a similar "episode" but the wrench went away after about 20 min of driving and a restart.

If I recall correctly, the wrench only came on during the first drive after I jarred the drive train. I don’t think it happened after that due to if it did I would have taken the car right to dealer. The issue was very intermittent because after that initial drive I think I drove the car a couple of more times with no issues. But then I started noticing intermittent bucking and stumbling issues (and maybe an occasional note about the cruise control being disabled that only lasted about 10 seconds, but can’t quite remember) so that is when I starting to investigate what the issue was. Beyond those symptoms the car never threw any codes.

I seem to believe the wrench going on and off as well. Mine also happened after dropping a gear and trying to disappear.

Well, I thought I took pictures under the car… I can’t find them. So when I get back to it and actually replace the nut, I’ll send pictures
