I have a bone stock 22 301A. 10 speed. Not a Daily. Going to stiffen up the rear subframe and diff. I have a set VMS 17X10s. Looking at tires. thinking about Nitto 555Rii. I am between the 275/40-17 and the 305/45-17. anyone have experience with the 305 on a 10 " rim. Also did the Taller height affect much. have ran M/T DRs on other cars before. This car will see the strip. A decent amount. drag and drive stuff . 3.15 gear. Thanks

Do you have plans to add power or will you stay at stock power/tune for a while?

Will your 17x10s be your regular street wheels as well as for the track?

I have the 555rii on the stock PP1 rear 19x9.5 wheel in a 275 and at stock power, they hooked well with the A10 on the street. Once I did the e85 tune, traction has been a bit harder to come by in 1st gear. I wouldn't want to go to a 28" tall tire at stock power level, especially if you have the 3.15 gear as it hurts your gear ratio and adds weight

At the drag strip, I have a 17x9 with 26" tall bias ply MT ET Streets and they hook very well. I have not run the 555rii at the track so I can't comment on their performance there. I know my track wheels/tires are not applicable to your options here.

On the 17X10, the 305/45 is the tire size of choice. It's a text book perfect match.

The 275/40 is only a 25.7" tall tire...... and over an inch narrower.

I am running 275/40-17 Drag Radials on 17x10 wheels.
My car is similar to yours, I have the 10R80 transmission and 3.15 rear gear.
The big advantage; the combination of the 26" tall tires and the transmission's 4.70 first gear, makes for a good launch!
The negative; my car looks really stupid.

I'm cutting 1.41-1.43's on M/T 305/45/17 SS's with a dead hook still. This season, ill be in the 1.35-1.37's on SS's. The Street R's in 305/45/17 will hold 1.27's all day.
