I saw the 1,500 figure also. Not knowing if that was a 2018 only number or applied to every model year, I was a bit anxious to get my name on the 2019 PP2 list. I made some inquiries & rec'd a Ford response that the 1,500 only applied to the 2018 model year due to the late intro of the of the PP2 option. Ford will produce them w/no maximum number for the 2019 model year.
Interesting, I own a PP2, Ford announced the pp2 platform was going to be limited to 1500 units per year. I thought maybe fewer would be made in 2018 since they came out late so I wrote Ford in July & asked for actual number built for 18 they responded they don’t have actual numbers yet because their still building 2018 models. Although a 2018 could not be ordered and to check back later.
I had Dealers tell me if I want a low production car I should get a GT350 but not one could tell me how many were to be built. Only one dealer was willing to negotiate an a GT350

I ended up getting the '17 GT350 and told the dealer yesterday that I was backing out of the order, so unfortunately I don't think I'll be receiving updates.

I definitely think I made the right choice since I essentially got the 3000 mile GT350 for the same price as the GTPP2 once additional trade-in value was taken into account on the 4Runner...and oh yeah because the sounds the GT350 makes is just as ridiculous as all the hype made it out to be.

CONGRATS MY DUDE!
Thanks! Although I've only owned it for five days, it is my 5th Mustang and I have never been this in love with a vehicle before. Hopefully the honeymoon period lasts indefinitely and I get lucky by not having any issues! Already put about 800 miles on it from driving it back from California and wasn't able to notice any oil consumption, but I'll be keeping an eye on it of course.

PP2's won't get built in the colder months, just like GT350's. The Cup 2 tires crack in the cold, the vehicles get shipped in non climate controlled trailers/trains. That's why.

Interesting, I own a PP2. Ford announced the PP2 platform was going to be limited to 1,500 units per year. I thought maybe fewer would be made in 2018 since they came out late so I wrote Ford in July & asked for actual number built for 2018. There is always a cut-off order date, beyond which cars will still be produced. As long as the assembly line can be profitably run, they will make that cut-off date as long as possible to pump up year end sales. Usually the extent of the next model year changes will dictate how late the existing assembly line can keep moving.

One more quick note on production times ... Ford has chosen to ignore initial production numbers on the 2nd & 3rd gen Bullitts, the current GT40 & the retro T-Bird to name a few. That's why I was bit surprised to think that it was limiting production of the PP2 v. the GT350. Clearly the latter, being the showcase of the Mustang line, would be more deserving of a limited production. On the other hand, who can fault Ford from making more $$$ by extending production numbers on popular cars?

As for those of you opting for 2-3 year old GT350 due to the price difference ... go for it!!! It's a helluva car w/a pot load of really nice performance goodies. However, I am sticking w/my PP2 for a couple of reasons. Purchasing a non-collectible car allows me to make any number of mods w/out concern of harming the resale value. Not the case w/the GT350. Also, I enjoy driving my Mustang on cross country trips (I also own an Expedition & a '98 Mustang GT so the PP2 would not be my only source of transportation). I just prefer driving v. flying. The other reason for opting for the PP2 is that traveling always brings w/it the inherent risk of bodywork damage. (Trust me, as an old ex-Shelby employee from the '60s, the new GT350s are a long way from the original 1965 models when the only non-Ford exterior part was the hood.) Thankfully, I have no horror stories to tell, but the very exclusive bodywork of the GT350 has got to factor into that decision to buy. I drive a lot around the country (retirement really does have its perks), & while I do see a LOT of Mustangs on the open road (almost 5:1 v. Camaros & Challengers), I never see any Mustang more exotic than a GT. While that used GT350 will undoubtedly give you more performance for the $$$, my PP2 will give me more miles for the $$$. :)

OK, we have rec'd a VIN today w/a dealer ETA of November 8, 2018. Happy Birthday to me!!! Anyway, while there was no problem breaking down the VIN, one thing did stand out. Everything I read tells me that the last six (6) digits is the "sequential unit number" which I would interpret as the number of Mustangs produced. However, the VIN indicates "133037". The previous 6th gen sales numbers (2015-122,345 /// 2016-105,932 /// 2017-81,866 /// 2018-61,619 thru nine (9) months only) don't even come close to 133,037. Even if you counted every 2019 model year (K) Eco-boost & GT, & both LHD & RHD Mustang, 133,037 still seems like a unbelievably high number. What am I not seeing here? :frown:
