After spirited driving my oil temp reaches as high as I marked it in the photo. Is that normal? I feel like it’s not supposed to go that high. Anyone else had this issue? The car also gets sluggish :frusty:

Well its not in the yellow or red area, and you are driving the car hard (presumably) so you should expect the temp to rise.

I have noticed the same thing while tracking my GTPP on very hot summer days. It gets close to the yellow marking about 15-20 minutes into a 30 minute session. I usually just head back to the paddock and wait for the next session.

I would think the two most simple options (other than slowing down) would be an additional oil cooler, or increasing the oil capacity.

how quickly does it come back down? how long and how hard is this "spirited" driving? i know in the manual it recommends 5w30 for track duty. also can depend on climate location. im thinking of going 5w30 being in florida and just being mostly hot

Can you post an image or page number that references a different weight oil for track use? Ive read through my 2017 manual and didnt come across that.

Ive done two oil changes thus far, but was hesitant to switch to a heavier viscosity.

SoCal gets extremely hot! Even cars with heavy duty cooling will heatsoak.. Theres really nothing you can do. Make sure you use a full synthetic oil not the crap syn blend from factory!

That's not a pic of his gauges. That's a Ford teaser shot from last year.
Nice catch 1964.5 miles 289 miles to empty.

Mine does the same as far as the reading. It will get just below the yellow mark. My definition of spirited driving is lets say while in Mexico driving for 20 to 30 miles all the while mashing the gas while doing 80, then 95, then 100, etc. Never dropping below 80 and likely averaging 90-95.

As soon as the speed drops back down to 70 the temp starts to drop pretty quickly.

You running away from cops after stealing some cars for a mobster in order to save your brother?

I've managed to get mine close to the yellow mark at the track - sure I run Amsoil - but still...
