It has to do with how VIN numbers are generated. The 10th digit of the VIN indicate model year and this is true for ALL manufacturers. The year 2001 the 10th digit was a numer 1, 2002 a number 2 all the way up to 2009 which was a number 9. In model year 2010, It changed back to letters. 2010=A 2011=B etc....2015 = F 2016 = G 2017 = H. These same VIN rules specify that VIN numbers cannot contain the letter "O" or the letter "I" which, is exactly for the reasons you mentioned. I guess what I'm saying is its not a ford thing or an engineering thing in the case of the dash plaque, but a byroduct of Gov't VIN rules.:cheers:It's typical in the engineering world to skip "I" and "O" when it comes to certain things due to the confusion of I's and 1's and O's and 0's. My guess is this is why they skipped it.
