Hey guys,
I was getting my floormats installed in my 2017 mustang and i ran into a neat little leftover footwell light plastic retainer under the driver and passenger side dash. It looks like ford left in the housing but deleted the lights. I wanted to share a few photos of my install and let everyone know they are there if you are looking for more substantial interior lighting in your S550. I was able to get the 1/2" sockets to fit (the opening is just over 13mm). They do not really "clip" in but more rest in place. You will need some sort of sticky mechanism (3M tape or flexible sealer) to really get a solid fit that doesn't easily turn back out. I tapped into the domelight wire in passenger side kick panel which in my car was grey with purple stripe (obviously test before you commit). I am unsure what the current capability of the domelight circuit so i changed all my interior bulbs out for soft white (2700k LED from diode dynamics) bulbs in the upper console along with my new bulbs. They do dim on shutdown, but drop out at about 30-50% PWM. Overall I am happy with the lighting (changed the trunk out for an LED strip) and new mats it brings the car up a notch (love my pony mat in the back).
