Passenger Footwell Ambient Lighting?

So question for you guys, it looks like my drivers side footwell (EcoBoost Premium PP) has ambient lighting but the passenger side does not. I noticed there's a panel in the passenger side that covers the bottom of the dash underneath the glove compartment, and that in that area there is ambient lighting. Is this by design or did someone forget to remove a panel? I just find it weird (and a little annoying) that one footwell is lit up and the other isn't. I wonder if its any harm to remove the cover?

it should be lit in both footwells. Take it to the dealer, that's what the warranty is for
