Did you figure out what it was? Im having this issue now
Check to see if your brakes lights are on all the time. Been some threads about the small plastic pad o the brake pedal cracking and falling off, which makes the brake lights stay on, which then makes the ECU limit the engine RPM.

Every time you depress the pedal and no response from the engine, the first thing that comes to mind is the THROTTLE BODY... even if something different is the culprit. Since nothing else seems to be, and there are a lot reported cases with them lately on the forum, search for that. Hopefully that's the culprit in all of the cases above, since it's easy to fix.
