I think the CS special will be much more unique and blend in with the car. Don't be surprised to see some cool looking modern LED Fogs possibly on the outer upper fangs.
Like the RTR, you mean? Not sure I'd class the RTRs as fogs, but it does use the upper fang.......

I would kill for a proper sunroof. It boggles my mind that that's not offered, although obviously it would destroy rear headroom.
My 2006 Mitsubishi Evo doesn't have a sunroof (weight) or cruise control (weight). The 2003's didn't even have a cup holder (GASP! Where do I put the double big-gulp?).

70,000 miles with the Evo and I never missed the lack of sunroof at all. In test driving the Mustang, I would be very hesitant to want a sunroof as even the driver would most likely have head movement issues with a helmet on.

Note: I've also driven a friends 2015 Focus ST on-track and the sunroof impacts head mobility. (I'm 6'1", he's 5'11" and the sunroof was a problem for both of us)

If you wanna sun roof, get a convertible instead >.>
I don't want a convertible, for any of the billion reasons people don't want convertibles.

But it is nice to be able to get some air circulation by raising the sunroof vent without having to open the windows and create all kinds of vortices in the car.

I have a moon roof in my explorer...love it...but for the Mustang, I actually like it without it...

Oh my gosh, I just found out from my neighbor that the new 2.7L V6 Ecoboost is going into the Mustang for 2016! That thing is a powerhouse in the new F150 so it should be a real tire burner in the Mustang.

April Fools! :tsk:
If only. Sadly, Ford won't make the 2.3 Ecoboost the standard engine in the Mustang until they have built and sold enough of them to reach the break-even point.

Then, hopefully, FoMoCo will slot a version of the 2.7 V6 in between the four and the Coyote V8. The 2.3 and the 3.7 are just too close to each other in power output and fuel economy. The Mustang needs an engine with about 375 horsepower as an intermediate power option. The 2.7 makes 325 hp in the relatively mild state of tune it's in for the F-150. It could easily be tuned for 375 hp for the Mustang. The 3.5 Ecoboost already makes 365 hp in F-150 tune, but the 2.7 makes more sense from a fuel economy standpoint. Either one of the these two V6 mills would be fine with me for the Mustang.

I wish Ford would have gone ahead and planned to do it for the 2016 model year. The Camaro team at GM isn't just sitting around while the Mustang outsells their car (and the Challenger combined).

Don't count on it. Glass brings a lot of weight to the car.
I love the Glass Roof in my '14 GT. It was a 'must have' item for me after not getting one in my '11 GT. Yes, it adds 28 lbs over the steel roof, but adds headroom and makes the interior so much brighter and airy feeling. Plus, it hasn't really slowed my car down at the dragstrip.

Sent from SYNC in my '14 Mustang GT...

You're thinking along the same lines as me! I created this thread a while back and it shows what I'd do if I were in charge. Looks like the Cali Special is confirmed for '16, so the first part of my plan is coming together. I just hope Ford follows through with the rest of my amazing plan, including the introduction of the Nano 2.7 V6

OK, a bit of fun. You've accepted the job of Top Dog at Team Mustang. You're in charge of product planning for the next few years. Times are good and budgets are big! Lets see your plans for the next couple of years

'16MY
GT350 introduced - 525hp from a FPC 5.2 V8 (also available as a GT350R with rear seat delete, carbon fibre wheels)

California Special introduced for the GT, with lightly revised front and rear fascias, new interior trim and unique 19" wheels.

PP available on the automatic GT!

'17MY
Mach 1 reintroduced - DI 5.0 with 475hp, 10-speed auto/paddle shifters, revised front and rear fascias, Premium Plus interior with full leather extending to doors and dash, 20" wheels and Perf Pack as standard.

'18MY
Complete styling refresh across the range - revised headlamps (LED turn signals now incorporated into the headlamp assembly) & tail lamps, revised grille/bumper/fascia.......more differences between Ecoboost, V6, GT. Revised interior with another bump up in quality & tech.

GT uses a 460hp/430lb ft version of the new DI 5.0 (10-speed now standard autobox across the range)

Mach 1 still uses a 475hp DI V8 with Perf Pack as standard (either 6sp manual or 10sp auto/paddle shifters) . Features revised front/rear fascias, and Premium Plus interior with full leather extending to doors and dash.

Ecoboost 4 now up to 325hp (new base trim available to appeal to rental fleet)

Ecoboost 6 - V6 changed to a 2.7 "Nano" Ecoboost V6 with 385hp (the V6 is no longer the entry level model)

GT350 continues with the new sheet metal changes, but sticks with the 525hp FPC Voodoo.

GT500 introduced with a 675hp supercharged version of the 5.2 Voodoo engine, but with a cross plane crank. Slight wider front and rear fenders and 20" wheels as standard. Features a similar Premium Plus interior as the Mach 1 with full leather extending to doors and dash. Available with either 6sp manual or 10sp auto/paddle shifters

C'mon Ford, 'gis a job

I like the Cyclone V6. It's an underrated and under-appreciated engine. But it's headed for the scrap bin of automotive history, along with the other Duratecs. Blame the rapid tech turnover in the automobile business and federal gov't-mandated fuel economy and clean air laws.

Things have reached the point where even 1 or 2 miles per gallon (EPA published figures, not actual numbers) can make the difference in a company choosing one of its engines over another for each model in its lineup. As has been mentioned here numerous times, FoMoCo was ready to drop the 3.7 Cyclone, but to keep costs down for fleet sales, decided to retain it for a while. As soon as the 2.3 EB engine's development and production startup costs are paid for (break-even point), it can afford to make it the base engine in the Mustang and will do so (likely for the 2007 model year). So get your Cyclones while you can.

FoMoCo is so committed to the Ecoboost concept for its fours and sixes that the 2.3 EB should be around for a relatively long time. It will be killed off only in your dreams. So dream on...

It's not like the Duratec family came and went in a flash. It's been in production for over 20 years in various sizes, starting with the 2.5L V6 Duratec back in the mid '90's (Ford Contour, anyone?), moving to 3.0L V6 Duratecs that was used in so many products a decade again (Ford Escapes, for example). Then (and now) the 3.5L and 3.7L versions used in so many Fords and Lincolns. Duratecs have had a very long run and they are still in so many 2015/16 Ford Lincoln products. Ford will keep using Duratecs in most Fords for awhile, both naturally aspirated and in EcoBoost guise.
