2016 knee airbags

Hi does anyone if the 2016 knee airbags are the same as the 2018 knee airbags ?
Are they interchangeable by any chance ?

Looking online, many resellers and some auctions sites show that the driver and passenger side knee airbags are compatible through all model years. However, I'm seeing some showing the driver side is 2015-2018 compatible, while the passenger side is 2015-2020 compatible.

I don't think anything changed as far as the design of the dash, how parts mesh together or the actual harnesses and harness connectors that go to the knee airbags.

I'm not sure why some sites show cutoff year ends for each side. It's quite possible BCM hardware revisions exist and/or software code revisions exist in later years.

Your best bet is going to a Ford Parts website and plugging in your VIN so you do get the Ford part # to reference, but also are getting the correct airbag for your year Mustang.
