I never have noticed gear whine, but it does clunk and is a bitch to shift smoothly until you get good at rev-matching.

I have a GT PP. I frequently drive with the windows down and at that speed and gear often near my house and haven't noticed any whine. The tranny is clunky, especially when cold.

Reminds of me of my '65 289 that had a four speed, but in a good way! Not a K code, but still wish I had that car...

If it were me, I would test drive another one to see if you hear the same thing. If you don't, I would move to another unit. Heck I would probably move to another unit regardless as I would always be wondering and worrying...
I had a 65 289 with a 3 speed, loved that thing, but that gearbox wasn't like my S550 at all. It was like a truck transmission! Though much maligned, the current 6 speed seems light years ahead.

The cool thing on my 65 was, being only a 3 speed, 2nd gear topped out around 80mph.

Mine doesn't make any noise. The other 2 new GT manuals i tried PP & non PP both didn't make noises either.

My only problem is the notchiness when shifting but that was normal in my 12' SS Camaro with the Tremec manual and my 15' GT as well.

The MGW shifter fixed those issues with the SS Camaro and i'm waiting on my MGW for my MT-82 to arrive next week which will fix the notchy shifting.

Mine is a little notchy, but I did notice it got better after I had some miles in the car (around 5000). Overally it's not too bad and 100% worth getting the manual for the driving experience

Mine whines a little bit but I installed a MBRP exhaust and it suddenly went away...lol.

All kidding aside, I've noticed lots of gear whine on many manual trans cars. Just a side effect of a complex multi geared rotating assembly.

I learned how to drive on a Ford truck with a manual and it whined in multiple gears. There was nothing wrong with it and it lasted for 200K with no issues.

Enjoy your new ride!
