Hi all,
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the trunk light? Mine quit working and I'm struggling to find out why. I have done all the obvious checks. Lamp is good. I have no voltage at all to the connector. Is there a fuse that I'm missing? Bad trunk light switch? Broken wire?
Any and all thoughts and help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance....

Common failure on all S550’s is the harness that usually runs from under the rear package tray to the trunk lid. On the fastbacks, it’s found on the passenger side. On the vert, it may be on the same side and possibly tucked back further.

The wires inside that harness deteriorate and break due to use of the trunk lid. You’ll have to peel back the black conduit to see all of the wires and check for any breaks or chafing of those wires.

There is a TSB I had posted a while back and there’s a few threads on here posted by others showing DIY splicing fixes to the harness. If the car is still under the 3/36, this will be fixed free of charge at any Ford Dealer and since a TSB exists.

When those wires in that harness break or become damaged, many thing will be affected:
interior trunk lighting
Sirius reception (only on verts)
trunk release at dash or the lock/unlock button under license plate area
back up cam malfunctions

Thanks Cobra Jet, appreciate the tips and info!
Unfortunately my car is out of warranty....
I have heard about the harness issue and was thnkin' that might be the issue. All other functions are good so I was just gonna try to find the switch and work my way back to the light. Any idea where the switch is located? Is it part of the solenoid in the trunk lid that releases the latch?
