The V-6 is still a great option for a lot of people. Standard Bluetooth, HIDs, rear backup camera, and a strong high-revving 300 hp motor and at the lowest price point possible.

The base interior is still a very nice place to be and it's a lot more car for the money than anything else I can think of.

Originally, my first mod was going to be a Katzkin leather interior. After living with the car for a few days, leather dropped way down on my priority list. I'll still do it someday, but the base upholstery is nice enough that it seems a shame to rip it out so soon.

The base interior cloth has really impressed me. They feel great, and I get into my car after work and my ass isn't freezing with the 20 degree temps outside like it would with leather. Gonna have to see how they hold up in the summer. I've driven a few cars with the cooled seats and I didn't really feel anything. How are they in the new mustang? I'd still prefer leather, but the perks of cloth are nice, too.

The only thing I'm envious of from the premium package is navigation. And that's just because I can't get my phone setup in a decent spot yet. Although I think soon the HUD GPS systems will be where it's at.

I've spent a lot of time in 2013+ Stangs just to be sure. The new interior is such a vast improvement that it doesn't even look like it's from the same manufacturer. The previous generation you were basically sitting in a 2005 F150. My opinion, it really sucked and was perhaps the single biggest reason why I never sought a Mustang.

I agree about the leather, hard to justify ripping out the cloth seats especially as it's as much to
change the color as anything else for me.

what I wonder about is all the cockpit distractions. I've never owned a Mustang and spring last
year was when I started looking at them, focused on the New Edge models, primarily the V6 .

today's car has 17 ? buttons around the horn on the steering wheel, two displays in addition to
the guages plus Lots of chrome, seems overwhelming to me compared with the simplicity of the
New Edge models.

I'd also prefer digital displays to the speedo and rev dials, I can live without the rev, and beginning
to think in terms of a HUD; and Nav certainly looks - in theory to be a good place to be displaying
a map that's providing updating directions.

thoughts ?

I personally didn't find any of the steering wheel buttons to be a distraction (had a rental for 4 days). My only gripe there is that the cruise on/off button is awkward to press, which wouldn't be an issue if the cruise stayed on after a key cycle. TBH that's my only real functional gripe with this car. You don't really notice the chrome when driving, it's just a nice accent to the interior.

The 2015 S550 is such a better car in pretty much every way than the SN95 or S197 it's really hard to compare them.

I also thought the same, my 14 felt like a plastic truck interior compared to a base 15, though the interior in the last gen models were pretty much almost 10 years old at that point.

And I also have the same gripe about the cruise control button location, resume and cancel are in a very odd place, probably the only thing I like on the old ones better :D

The 3.7 is a great engine, I enjoyed every mile of it, though I cant say I miss it ;)
