it has an engine!
I have the x-pipe and the driveshaft which took off close to 45lbs of weight from the car. I think the biggest thing with the driveshaft to improve efficiency is the fact that it is a one piece so it directly transfers more power. It is also a lot lighter and being that it is rotational mass every pound taken off means that much more, allowing the motor to spool it that much easier.

Only reason I have considered a GT-R is because it seems to be much faster stock than what a modded mustang would be to a point. What are you looking at in terms of maintenance dollar wise?
if you want more power then stock turbos can handle you will need to build the motor on the gtr. The s550s are handling 650+ without building the motor. Gtr's also cost a lot to mod. incase you didn't know, the GTR transmission.......it only has one part number if you blow it up.

handling over 800whp without issue, the transmission on the other hand isn't. The MT82 that is.

Still loads cheaper to replace than the DCT in the GTR, also not anywhere near as good.

yeah I was trying to be conservative with the numbers. I see you all with well over 650. the trans in the gtr seems to be anything but good for more then stock power for long. I'll take the tremec XL

My 2014 GT-R was 100% with stock wheels/tires, and ran a 11.2. You can run low 10s/high 9s with stock turbos and full bolt ones with E85. To put into perspective GT-R tax: http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/nissan-r35-gt-r-exhaust.html $3,500-$6,000 for cat back exhaust...because GT-R.

Not true, you can fix the transmission gears/clutches/etc. Mind you, more expensive, and the build are more expensive. $5,500 for a 700hp trans, $14,000 for a 1,000 hp trans.

Roughly $5,000 for a OEM brake job.

Trans fluid is several hundred $$$

If you want to be a big dog in the GT-R world, you'll need at least 1,500whp, and be ready to pay $150,000-$200,000 for that build.

I learned there is a big difference between owning a GT-R, and modding a GT-R. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the vehicle, and even stock, it's a damn impressive car, and what people have done with the VR38, extremely impressive (7s on stock block).

Just some food for though.

then its changed. My buddy works at dealer as a tech. For the longest time the trans only had one part number from what he had told me.

Im familiar with the pricing for modding a gtr. A buddy of mine, owner of bren tuning tunes them for a living, among other cars.

It still may very well be that way for an OEM to OEM fix. I believe it's their policy not to crack the trans open.

But say you bust a 1st gear (can happen if not built and launching hard) an aftermarket shop can/will open it up and fix the gears.

do they make a Carbon Fiber Driveshaft for the V6? If so , how much would it be to buy and install. If you're getting better MPG's, and more power to the wheels then this would be something I'm interested in.

That's a good thing for them. What they charge for that trans and fluid is robbery.:thumbsup:

they do for the automatic

not sure about the manual though. Yes honestly it was a well worthy upgrade, reduced the throw in the shifter, better mpg and power, also I've read that these one pieces DS are better for the trans. I asked a friend who is a rotational engineer at Honeywell and he explained to me why it results in being easier on the gears but I didn't understand it, other than the premise.

I also imagine if I swapped over to 19" I'd notice another increase in MPG, as well as if I swapped the P Zero's to Michelin Super Sports.
