New Ford Focus ST Global Reveal at Goodwood Festival of Speed; New Mustang Also Debuts on Famous Hill Climb

Also starring at Goodwood will be the all-new Ford Mustang that makes its first U.K. appearance. A 5.0-liter V8 fastback will take part in the Supercar Class, with Ford Team RS vehicle dynamics specialist David Put at the wheel. Ford also will display a Mustang convertible.

Yeah, surprised its not getting more coverage. This will be the first time anyone outside of Ford has seen it being driven in anger. And it'll be timed against tons of other cars to boot. It'll be our first chance to see for ourselves what it's capable of performance-wise.

Mid-engined masterpieces that pre-dated what became known as supercars comprise Class 5, where you can expect to see examples of the Ford GT40 MkIII and McLaren M12 GT, plus the sensational Mazda RX500, while Class 6 celebrates the advent of the more-affordable ‘Pony Cars’, inspired by the 50th anniversary of the genre-defining Ford Mustang. Alongside Mustangs, Plymouth Barracudas and Dodge Challengers will feature heavily.

Looks like at least muscle cars of unknown years.

I think that's a class for older classic cars. All of the articles I've read say that it'll be in the supercar class which includes most of what you'd think of when you think of supercars - Lambos, Porsches, etc. They mention that Honda will be debuting the new NSX (again) in that class as well. Not sure why they're putting the mustang in this class but whatever. It'll be interesting to compare times.

Don't get too excited............the hill climb at Goodwood is more of an exhibition than a competition. Yes, the runs are timed, but most runs consist of burnouts to please the crowds, so don't expect to be able to decent performance stats against other cars that are running.

I also suspect S550, with it's stock exhaust, will also sound like an electric car, certainly compared to some of the beasts that run up the hill, especially the classic race cars, like the late 60s Trans Am racers.

That being said, I'm really looking forward to seeing S550 again

TV coverage isn't live, and it often takes our TV companies a couple of weeks to show anything, but I'll keep my ear to the ground.
