Mimartin15,
FYI. I ordered my Ruby Turbo w/PP on 21 Oct and had a blend date of 12 Nov. She was built on time and COTUS now shows an ETA of 28 Nov. When I placed the order my dealer also told me mid to late December. I'm in NC and I'm hoping the 4-5 weeks delivery time is just dealer added padding so I don't but the crap out of him.

Fingers crossed! Maybe you'll get it before Thanksgiving! =)

Only 31 days left to get my car from my May order... (order date shows 7/11, but that is when the dealer submitted my order, not when I ordered it). On another topic, I think we get 3yr/36K mile warranty. How much do people typically pay for an extended bumper to bumper warranty? For example,

$1000 extra for 5yr/60K mile bumper-to-bumper? Do I have to buy the warranty through my dealer, or can I buy it through another dealer?

Thanks!

Mine was scheduled for delivery on 11/30. When I looked today it changed to 12/25! Merry Christmas.

Caution Rant about Waiting Forever for my New Car Begins Here:

Why does the new car ordering system not have some checks and balances to ensure the people who order their car first get their car first? I think the manufacturer should deliver cars to dealers based on order date, not order priority or other dealer request for dealer stock over retail orders. The dealers by themselves have no incentive at all to deliver a customer's retail order first from some guy who pre-ordered 6 months ago versus their opportunity in the first 3 months of a new car release to sell those cars to walk-in buyers for MSRP or greater.

Here's how I perceive my dealer talks/thinks about my order:

Some rich guy who paid a $1000 deposit 6 months ago on his new Mustang GT is a guaranteed sale. The guy must have really wanted that car early to be the first new car order; we already have his deposit, so he is forced to buy from us. Now that we have his money, he is the lowest priority in front of potential new customers! Hey that guy wanted x-plan right? Then let's delay his order even more since somebody might pay MSRP or even higher on his car who walks into our dealership. We only have about the first 3 months when a new car comes out to get MSRP or even more for the new model, so every car we sell under MSRP is a loss for our dealership. We only get some limited number of new model cars, and we can select if those cars are for retail or dealer stock. It doesn't make sense for us to deliver any cars to customers who are not paying at least MSRP, so screw the people who pre-ordered with deposit. It's not like Ford forces us to deliver cars to customers who ordered first, so who cares about fairness? Whoever pays more gets the highest priority around our dealership, not some sucker who paid a deposit 6 months ago. Let's not even submit that guy's order for 6 weeks after he put his deposit down so we have a chance or place our dealer-stock orders first. It's all about profits here around our dealer. Crap, that guy keeps calling and wanting to know what's happening with his new car? We have a car just like his in stock now that we ordered as dealer stock. See if he will pay MSRP or higher, if not, tell him to wait another 6 weeks to get his car since we can get somebody else to pay MSRP in the first few months of the new model release. Screw that guy - it's all about profits.

Congrats on getting closer!

People pay lots of prices for warranties. Be forewarned. Yes, you can buy through any dealer (unless you are in Florida, but hopefully you are not)

Google Ford ESP Pricing. Best prices I have seen are at Troy Ford and Flood Ford. Lots of options for coverages, deductibles, durations and mileage, even payment plans on many of them.

If you get a 5yr/60K mile extended warranty...you have extended your initial warranty for an additional 2 years and 24K miles, correct?

i purchased a 5 year / 60k extension on my last car for $700

I guess it paid off since it needed an a/c compressor which would've cost $1100 or so

would I purchase another warranty extension again? probably not.

i drive way too much and that 60k will be gone within 2.5 years. i don't anticipate any issues with the car in that time frame *knock on wood*

this is my first domestic car after all, but from what i can see, ford has come a long way.

My car has been missing from COTUS for about a week now. Based upon the last estimate, it was supposed to arrive this Friday. The dealer could not locate late last week either. Should I be concerned or does COTUS go AWOL once in a while?

my cotus has been AWOL since the day it shipped. FordService and the Dealer can still get updates through their system, which is likely the "Vehicle Visibility Tool" they use.

Have you signed papers? That will make the car drop off COTUS. Send a PM to Rachel at FordService here on this site. She can find the car, she's a most outstanding help.

Mystery solved. That happened to me. But Rachel can still see the car, until it's on truck transport. Then all she can tell you is that it's on a truck and will be delivered pretty soon.

Yea, I live in South Florida. Does that mean if I want extended warranty that I have to buy from the dealer who sold me my car?

I dont think its anything like that. Other than a priority level, the dealership has no control what the plant builds first or 100 down the line.

It sounds a lot like the people who ordered early got lost in a mass of chaos before the order system was smooth, causing newer orders to be built/ship first.

Trust me, most savvy people could go get that $1,000 back and go to another dealership to order. It's not a done deal with a deposit; and a lot of people put 0 down so that rebuts that theory as well.
