For some strange reason, although I ordered my new 2015 GT on 6/2/14 with an order priority of 10 and paid my $1000 deposit on that date, the http://www.cotusb.ford.com/ website said I ordered on 7/11/14 and still does not show a VIN. Did my dealer wait 5 weeks to officially submit my order?

Why do I have to wait until November to get my car when other people are still getting it in late September? How can I speed up the process to get my car in September?

Looks like your dealer doesn't like you. Unfortunately you probably won't be receiving your car any where in September and there is no way to speed up your order.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Brent. I'm willing to bet the farm he jerked you around for a month before actually submitting the order. Call the dealer and demand an answer for the delay. Try to have him make it right by resubmitting your order as a stock order.

A preproduction vehicle (see *299* part of VIN) and not part of Job1 Was more than likely built to check out assembly procedures since the build date is recent. This vehicle can't be sold and will eventually be scrapped.

If Ford gives the okay for Job1 to start next Monday, you will see real, production, salable media/exec/test cars (VINs *5300002 to about *5300400) start rolling off the line next week.
That's why he said it's a media car

Just curious of how many people ordered their car as retail and NOT dealer stock or an LE... that already have a VIN with build date...when it was ordered... mine was on 5/24 on xplan priority 15... nothing to this date though it does show up in COTUS

Ordered 5/28 and mine showed up on COTUS the day after I ordered it. Still no VIN or build date. From what I have gathered, retail orders will not be scheduled untill 9/11, so do not expect to see any updates on your order till that time.

That's what I was expecting.... even for the guy that ordered before me on the 20th... none from the same dealer shows up with a schedule... hopefully mine comes up on that batch on 9/11 if not, guess it's a longer wait yet depending on which dealers grr their orders fulfilled first... I keep trying to find rankings on sales but always come up with reviews and not sales figures other than their claim of one of the top mustang dealers in north texas

OK, I don't want to come off as rude, but that is really bad advice. The initial stock orders are in and should be locking down if not already locked. You can ask the dealer if he ordered a similar car and try to get the same options you want added, but be can't change an ECO to a GT. The next wave of orders starting in Sep, will give a priority to retail, also don't forget, he needs an allocation. Check with his inventory manager on 10 Sep and see what he gets for allocation and choose from that or wait until the next week. If QA delays releasing the first wave of stock orders, there is a chance that stock order will get parked in, then you have to wait until the carrier can get to that row. There are many reasons he may have waited a month, he might have been looking to see if he was allocated what you are looking for and when he didn't get it, he just went ahead and submitted the order. Your order has a chance of showing up before the stock orders, its a small chance.

This my or may not be true. Either way it's a complete crap shoot and no one has any clue what will happen after 9/10

but that would be just my luck, I have a stock order and got cut off at the knees on 7/17

The Barrett Jackson car (VIN: 1FA6P8CF2F5300001) shows "In Production".

From my local sales manager: Production begins Monday on dealer stock, Job 1. Retail orders for Job 1 begin production 9/9. It's reasonable to expect to see a VIN/Build Date for us retail guys by the end of the month. Delivery will be around 4 weeks after the build date. This is all assuming, of course, that there's no hiccups with the new line.

If you dont have a VIN already, then I think it will be after 9/10 or 9/11 before you get one. myself included

I know he said it was a media car. No one, other than Ford representatives, are going to drive a pre-production car without waiving all liability on Ford's part and those waivers are not offered except in special situations (such as letting a professional driver pilot one as a pace car).

The pre-production cars are not street legal. Ford employees can drive them on public roads. They are for public appearances, car shows, crash tests, fitment tests, performance tests (by Ford), etc. You won't see Ford handing over the keys to a pre-production car for an independent media evaluation drive. That's why there have only been ride along sessions to date.

The "media" cars that are actually test driven independently on public roads and test tracks will come from the first production batch. They are street legal, have no liability issues, and can be sold, donated, loaned, or leased to anyone.

The majority of the pre-production cars will lose their usefulness once production begins. Most will end up scrapped since it is too expensive to store them. A few may end up in museums, top Ford executive private collections, or donated to Technical School auto shops - all with the stipulation that they will not be driven on public roads. The donated pre-production cars also come with the agreement that they will be destroyed when Ford gives the order.

Not trying to be pedantic, but independent test drives occuring before Job1 would be unusual.
