2015 Mustang Production / Ordering Schedule

I took down the post I knew I should have not posted it online but how do you know by looking at the vin that its preproduction?

*5299XXX VINs are all preproduction.
*53XXXXX VINs are production for current scheduled build dates
*5500001 - *5501964 VINs are LE models

Your sequence number begins with 299. If it were a salable car, the sequence number of the VIN (the last 6 digits) would begin with 3... with the LE's beginning with 30...

i have my vin, they changed it to a stock order so i can get it faster. but the last 7 of mine begin with 5306XXX, mine is not a limited edition one, just a GT with the 50 year package added to it. i dont have a build date as of yet.

The LEs are *550XXXX where XXXX = 0001 through 1964

I believe they chose the 550 portion to match the chassis model number, making the LE VINs even more special. The first "5" actually represents the Flat Rock assembly plant.

The first 5 you include is actually the assembly plant that the car is manufactured. For Ford, the 5 stands for Flatrock.

That's the same boat we are all in. You will receive a VIN first before you are scheduled.

I spoke with my dealer today (Ford in Pembroke Pines FL) since I never received my VIN number or any detail on the production date of my order. I ordered on 6/2/14 with a $1000 deposit. The guy told me today no dealers will be getting any 2015 Mustangs until last week in October or first week in November since there are still too many 2014 Mustangs that have not yet sold! He said my order was never processed and I still don't have a VIN. I can't believe I have to wait until November now to get my new car.

You need to tell your dealer Bill Ford wants his franchise back for telling tall tales. Previous model years don't hold up new sales, we have rows of 2013 F-150s sitting here and there will be plenty left when the 2015s show up. In two weeks after production starts in full swing Sep 9th, there would absolutely no where to park around FRAP. There are 11K cars scheduled out through the second week of Sep. Those are dealer stock and as soon as QC is done they have to be shipped. There are a few gigantic parking areas at FRAP and some dirt field that is overflow. This is also shared with Fusions. Like they said in the OJ trial, if it won't fit ya gott a quit making or ship.

See below. I also believe your sales person is telling a tall tale. Your order likely has not been scheduled because it is a retail rather than dealer stock order.

Thanks for your post. I assume you have visibility to the number of orders through your Ford buddies, yes? And yes, FRAP is big but I also think it would not hold that many cars!

I would think in some ways, it'll be easier to sell the older cars sitting next to the new ones, when they have a huge discount sticker on them. At least for a certain crowd that doesn't really care if they get the latest and greatest and are happy with the looks of the older model.

There may actually be some people that sit in the new model and think 'meh' not worth the extra $$$.

I agree...the source of your information isn't passing any test, common sense, reality, truth, etc. Are you serious?

Think about it this way, all of those stock orders will sit @ Ford for a month or so during QC while any kinks or production issues are worked out.

Once those models are deemed OK to ship, then they resume production on custom 'retail' orders.

Ford doesn't want us, the most vocal of vocal buyers, to get their custom ordered cars and start hitting the forums saying this and that is wrong.

I agree it sucks, I'm in the same boat as I ordered retail, but a few weeks or even a month for the car to get here later is OK with me...as I don't have a choice.

Why do you quote me and then pontificate on automobile production?? I know how the process works. Direct your theories towards the unenlightened who think customer orders placed this summer won't take delivery until November.
