It appears that the 2015 Mustang production run will continue almost into 2016 much like what happened with the 2013 C-Max, resulting in a shortened abbreviated 2014 run. Need proof? The 2014 Ford C-Max Hybrid had barely a 7 month production run before JOB 1 started for MY 2015, just saying......

Job1 on the 2014 cars was January '13, as I recall. They built them until just a couple weeks ago. That means 2014 was in production for about 18 months - not exactly abbreviated.

You (meant) Jan 2014 was JOB 1 for the 2014 C-Max Hybrid, correct. I see a "7" month run?

I'm talking Mustang. You said the '15 production shortened the '14 MY, resulting in an abbreviated 2014 MY run. I pointed out that it wasn't abbreviated. The '12 cars were built starting in Jan '11, '13s from Jan '12, '14s in Jan 13. Until the S550 launch, Mustang had been running almost a year ahead of the calendar. This sort of resets it.

I was making reference to a similar situation which happen during the 2013 Model Year Run in regards to the 2013 Ford C-Max (not) the 2013 or 2014 Mustang! Check my previous Post! Once the 2015 Mustang (finally) gets released and hits the Dealerships, expect a similar Build Cycle.

Sorry, you previous post said:

I took that to mean you were saying the the 2015 Mustang production was going to truncate the '14 MY production, and that something similar occurred for C-max the year before. So, you're expecting the '16MY to be shortened?

Yes, I think the MY 2015 Mustang production will be extended and the MY 2016 Run will probably be shortened, much like what happened to the 2013-2014 C-Max Run.

Gotcha. But why would they do that, when they've typically run ahead of the calendar in recent years? The only reason I can think of is that there are key changes for the MY that are delayed and the '16MY J1 has to be pushed back. Otherwise, what would be the advantage?

Just like with the Launch of the new 2013 C-Max Hybrid and Energi, it got delayed. With the huge initial Order Build both for Retail & Fleet, they needed to extend the 2013 MY Run to complete Orders. Its safe to assume the same is likely to occur with the Launch of this all new 2015 Mustang. If in fact, the first Vehicle`s don`t reach the Dealer Lots until late Oct or Nov and the Convertibles even later, it will almost definitely extend the 2015 Run.

I'm hoping they stay on this schedule from this point. It would suck a little to buy a new car, have it delivered in November, drive it for 5 months and all of a sudden Ford has model year 2016 Mustangs on lots in April of 2015. I'd like to have a NEW model year car for at least 8 to 9 months before the new one was out. Selfish? Probably. But it does mean 2015 owners would take an early resale value hit. I hope they keep this schedule of September release in the future.

I think your mistaken. If the 2015 Mustang Run is extended longer, it will be the Buyers of the 2016 MY Mustang that will see a shortened Production Run and a quicker depreciation when the 2017 MY Mustang is introduced.

You think so? I would prefer it that way. It would actually make more sense as the 2017 model year is probably going to get DI and who knows maybe even the 10 speed automatic.

Wouldn't it be funny if Ford released a commercial saying the 2014 Mustang outsold the challenger 3:1 and the Camaro 2:1 (just guessing) and acted like it was the hottest selling muscle car in the country when in reality the '14 model year has just been on sale for two years.
