What kind of model (and options did you order)?

I ordered July 28th, Ecoboost premium, 50th Ann. appearance & PP. Retail stock, priority 19.

My dealer insisted that retail orders get priority over stock when I asked about changing mine to stock.
Unfortunately, the deal is wrong as you already know. The dealer is right in normal circumstances though. The problem is, the launch of a new model is not a 'normal circumstance'.

It's not much longer before retail orders start getting pulled though, so perhaps it's not worth worrying too much about it. Do you know if you're the top priority retail order at the dealer? If so, you'll be one of the earlier retail orders to get scheduled.

I just checked, and I didn't get VIN/scheduled, either. No biggie; honestly wasn't expecting it.

Order date 8/1, retail order, priority 12.

Quick question for those associated with dealers: Are there rules about placing "sold" cars as stock orders? Are there penalties for doing so?

It is frustrating to be sitting on a 5/24 X-Plan retail order and seeing so many able to get cars scheduled with recent order dates. My dealer claims that any car with a retail purchase agreement must be placed as a retail order and won't change mine. This distribution scheme is far from fair. :frusty:

It seems clear that there's no rule against it. I say this because we know Ford proper is reading all of us say we have them, and none of them have been cancelled on us (knock on wood).

However, there are consequences for the dealer. For instance they're selling me my car on x-plan, as are many others. The reality is, if they had the car on the lot like they would have expected, they'd very likely sell it for more than x-plan (maybe even more than MSRP) and make more in the process. So, by doing this, they're giving up a little bit of revenue in order to get the fanatics their cars faster. Some will be willing to do this, some won't.

Fortunately, my dealer is alright with this. In return, I'll keep his license plate cover on my car and drive through town more than I would ordinarily, at least for the first few months. Not to mention showing it off every chance I can get.

I'm not sure I had a priority code 80, job 2 I wonder if putting $10,000 down had any incentive ?

My guess is your dealer straight up lied to you or has their own policy. The dealers that are ordering stock for customers might just be out there doing what they think is best for their customer and enthusiast. I know my dealer wanted to do anything to get me my car because I told him that if I can't get it in time I'll just go and buy a Lincoln instead (the dealer didn't have a Lincoln-associated dealer). My guess is unless you put money down and would be losing it if you went to another dealer and asked them if they would take your stock order and then told the dealer that you'll take your business elsewhere they'll probably convert yours to stock. It's just a matter of them wanting to sell that stock Mustang at a wild premium for people that can't get x-plan.
