Hey everyone,

I have a '15 Ecoboost premium with 1800 miles. For a while now I've been noticing this faint (but noticeable) high pitched electric interference sound when the car is running. It sounds like something a cheap set of speakers would make, like a ringing ear. I don't really know how to describe it.

The noise is constant as long as the engine is running. It's not always noticeable with the radio, but it's there whether the radio is on or off or if the HVAC is on or off. Doesn't matter what source I'm using for radio, what mode the car is in, what speed I'm going, what gear I'm in, etc...it's always there. As far as I can tell the ONLY time it's not there is if the engine is off. ACC on it's not there.

I took it to the dealer. Service advisor said he didn't hear it. He told me the tech heard it but said all cars with satellite radio do that. I didn't get a chance to get in another ford or mustang, but my Chevy that I traded in had satellite and never had this problem. The paperwork said the tech couldn't replicate the issue and there were no TSBs

It's driving me crazy. I've searched all over and haven't seen anything similar. I might take it to another dealer, and I'm considering calling Ford Customer Service. Has anyone else ever noticed this sound?

Yes. Does yours ever kick in in AUX mode before you even start the car? I hear a whine from my speakers then too, almost like a ground loop fault or something?

I haven't had that aux issue, but yes, I think you're describing the same sound

Mine would be described as a crackle or sizzle noise, or bad ground noise. Try and get them to listen carefully by front door speakers, mine noticeable through passenger side. If its same issue you should be able to hear it slightly even with car off. Just hit your start button dont start car and dont turn anything on. You should be able to hear It better.

Thanks. I'm going back to the dealer to get something else taken care of, I'll bring this up and see if it works. If not I'll try another dealer.

Just double check with just acc on. I seen yours doesnt do it. But just close all your doors turn on acc and nothing else and try and lean over towards passenger front speaker. Hopefully you can hear someone cooking bacon like I could. Lol. Best way to describe it

I had this issue, dealer replaced head unit. I think technical term is acu. Audio control unit.
Huh - so they'll actually swap out the head unit over this? I was pretty worried, I hadn't noticed it on the dealer lot (crowded, next to a freeway) but it's super obvious in my garage, kind of a whining / hissing, like the noise inside an airplane before they fire up the engines - heh maybe that's intentional.

Wouldn't ya know, this morning when I got to work I shut off the engine and heard the cooking bacon sound.

Has this been resolved for you, or have you contacted the CRC yet, Jayhawk Jake? If not, let’s get this escalated for you. Please, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number. I’ll loop in the customer service manager for your area.
